This week, we have the pleasure of presenting the AVID Ingenium turntable. This is an extremely high quality model, using a specific structure, made up of two solid T-shaped aluminium parts, set on three Sorbothane support feet, a polymer material which offers excellent damping properties. This model uses the Avid Diva II turntable rotation system, i.e. a stainless steel thrust point upon which sits a tungsten carbide bearing. Fitted to this is the sapphire disc and platter assembly. This turntable is equipped with a Pro-Ject 9CC carbon fibre tonearm and Nagaoka MP-110 phono cartridge, which can be used with an AVID Pellar RIAA phono preamp. A specific dust cover is available ? the AVID Universal Flat Cover.
The M-Audio Super DAC II is a USB-self-powered model with a Wolfson WM8740 24 bit/192 kHz converter, mini-jack line input, S/PDIF coaxial and optical outputs, 3.5 mm mini-jack and 6.35 mm jack headphone outputs, RCA stereo output, volume control on all outputs, input and output selector and sampling frequency indicator.
The M-Audio Micro DAC is a more low-key compact self-powered model which can handle PCM 16 bit/48 kHz audio stream. It is equipped with an S/PDIF coaxial and headphone output and an impedance selector switch.
The M-Audio Bass Traveler is a portable headphone amplifier with a maximum power output of 250 mW/16 Ohms with adjustable gain, 2 headphone outputs and a rechargeable battery with an 8 hour battery life.
A wide variety of RHA earphones has been added to the Son-Vidéo.com catalogue this week. Yamaha next with its Yamaha HS5 and Yamaha HS8 studio monitors, 2-way bass reflex bi-amplification monitors which would be at home in any home studio. Yamaha HS5 and Yamaha HS8 studio monitors have an XLR balanced input and a 6.35 mm jack format unbalanced input. The rear panel features the control interface ? volume, treble level (-2, 0 or +2 dB) and acoustic response control for the room for low frequencies at 500 Hz (0, -2 and -4 dB). The monitor adapts to its surroundings to ease mixing and keep it free from any interference. These monitors can be used with the Yamaha HS8S subwoofer.
