The E3, the world famous video game convention, was the occasion for Dolby to bring its Dolby Atmos audio technology into the spotlight. The Xbox One X (Project Scorpio code name), Microsoft?s new video game console, is able to display 4K Ultra HD images thanks to its powerful GPU. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players will thus no longer be the sole 4K-enabled sources, and gamers will be able to enjoy an ultra-high-definition image with a 4K UHD TV or 4K Ultra HD projector.

Updates will be proposed for most games purchased for the Xbox One console in order to allow users to enjoy a 4K gaming experience with the future Xbox One X. This will at least be the case for Minecraft, Gears of War 4 and Age of Empires. In addition, 40 new games are planned to be released in the 4K format.

Meanwhile, more and more games will be offering Dolby Atmos sound. To capitalize on this, many opt for a Dolby Atmos home theater receiver and Dolby Atmos speakers (positioned on the ceiling). However, another solution exists, since Dolby Atmos enabled headsets will soon be hitting the market.

Plantronics has just made an announcement to confirm this, and the Plantronics RIG 400LX, Plantronics RIG 600LX and Plantronics RIG 800LX will soon be available for purchase. These gaming headsets will offer Dolby Atmos sound with a 360° sonic environment complete with a vertical dimension for 3D video games.
