These new True Wireless earphones, specifically designed for fitness and sports enthusiasts, offer more than an audio experience. They incorporate cutting-edge biometric sensors for precise performance tracking.
After the very recent release of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds, the German brand is now releasing its new sports earphones, the Sennheiser Momentum Sport. And although their names are similar, these fitness-dedicated IEMs stand out from the crowd. Let’s take a look at this latest-generation Sport model.
Two biometric sensors to improve performance
The first sensor at the heart of Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds uses photoplethysmography technology (a non-invasive vascular exploration technique) to accurately measure heart rate, with a range from 30 to 220 beats per minute. Combined with this feature, a second sensor monitors body temperature with an impressive accuracy of +/- 0.3 degrees Celsius. This combination of biometric sensors gives users a comprehensive analysis of their physical state during exercise, enabling them to train more intelligently and efficiently.
Heart rate data syncs with the Apple Health, Garmin Connect, Strava and Peloton apps (examples listed by the brand). However, it’s with the Polar Flow app that these earbuds will deliver precise performance tracking, with intelligent coaching resulting from training data and analysis.
Semi-open design and noise cancelling
The Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds also stand out with their semi-open design, a characteristic that promises a perfect balance between musical immersion and awareness of your surroundings. This is made possible thanks to the included perforated ear tips (S, M and L). Note that fins are also supplied to ensure a secure fit in the ear. They are, of course, IP55-certified to guarantee resistance to water and perspiration.
In addition to the Transparent mode, sports enthusiasts who want to concentrate on their movements in a noisy environment, such as a gym, can do so using the active noise cancelling system. The latter filters out exterior noise to immerse the listener in a sound bubble.
The same excellent sound performance
Although Sennheiser has paid particular attention to the needs of athletes, sound performance remains a priority for the brand. The Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds feature 10mm transducers for an immersive listening experience during workouts. What’s more, they have a battery life of up to 6 hours for the earphones alone, and up to 24 hours with the charging case.
The Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds are equipped with a Bluetooth 5.2 module that is compatible with the SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive codecs to ensure an excellent wireless transmission. Moreover, the multipoint feature is supported to simultaneously connect two devices. A convenient feature in the gym, for example, to connect to your treadmill or exercise bike while staying in touch with your smartphone.
