The Yamaha True X SR-X40A soundbar features six drivers, two of which point upwards to add the vertical dimension of Dolby Atmos sound. It also features a built-in subwoofer with a port for an accurate bass reproduction. With its 180 watts of power and measurements of 1,015 x 63 x 112mm, it fits under most TVs that are 55″ or larger, while offering a comfortable volume.

Connected and accompanied by the Alexa voice assistant
In terms of connectivity, the Yamaha True X SR-X40A soundbar features an HDMI 2.0 input, capable of delivering a 4K image at 60Hz, and an eARC-compatible HDMI output. Although it can be connected to the network via Wi-Fi, it has an Ethernet port, so you can access streaming services like Spotify and Tidal in the best possible conditions. It also supports Bluetooth and AirPlay 2.
Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant is also included. The latter lets you control the soundbar vocally. You can ask it to change the volume or play music. Alexa is also capable of answering your questions and can come in handy on a daily basis. The assistant can set alarms, program reminders and perform many other useful tasks.
True X technology: optional additional speakers
The Yamaha True X SR-X40A soundbar is the heart of the ecosystem, and can communicate wirelessly with other compatible speakers. Practical and modular, True X technology lets you place speakers anywhere in the room. The location of the soundbar does not therefore dictate their position in the home theater system.
The Yamaha True X WS-X1A surround speakers work alone and connect wirelessly to the soundbar. They can be charged using the Yamaha CC-T1A base, and offer up to 12 hours of autonomy. Placed behind the viewer, they provide immersive 360° sound. Another advantage is that they can also be used as Bluetooth speakers, so you can connect a smartphone and listen to music.
The Yamaha True X SW-X100A subwoofer also requires no cable to connect to the Yamaha True X SR-X40A soundbar. However, a mains plug is necessary to ensure power supply. Equipped with a 6.3″ driver, this subwoofer can deliver up to 100 watts of power. It’s the perfect accompaniment to the soundbar, providing powerful, generous bass for movies, TV series, video games and music. Its bass-reflex enclosure with a front-firing port allows it to produce low frequencies down to 35Hz.

Finishes and features are of the highest quality. We can connect it to Spotify, Amazon Music and Tidal. Which makes it perfectly versatile. The sound is truly magnificent and you end up asking yourself, “How did we ever manage without it before, for so long?!!!” It’s part of our daily lives now, and I hope many more will discover it. Once set up with this soundbar and its satellite speakers, you’ll feel like you’re at the movies. The sound comes from everywhere! The separate speakers are also very practical, as they can be placed wherever you want and operate individually via Bluetooth. In short, modernity and efficiency! I recommend it.
