Cambridge Audio EXA100 hi-fi amplifier

With 2 x 100 watts of power and class AB amplification, Cambridge Audio’s EXA100 adopts an internal structure at the cutting edge of the latest hi-fi advances. It incorporates four-layer printed circuit boards and a CAP protection system exclusive to the manufacturer. The latter monitors temperature, voltage and current in real time to prevent overloads and guarantee the amplifier’s longevity.

What’s more, it boasts a frequency response ranging from 3Hz to over 40kHz, guaranteeing excellent bass presence and detailed highs. An ideal configuration for listening to high-resolution music, since its ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC, also found on the Cambridge Audio EVO 150 hi-fi amplifier, supports 32-bit/192kHz files. Resolutely aimed at music lovers, it also features Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity with support for aptX HD, so you can enjoy high-resolution music wirelessly and without compression.

The HDMI eARC input is the main addition to the EX range. The Cambridge Audio EXA100 amplifier can be used in a home theater stereo configuration, broadcasting sound from a TV or projector via HDMI. This is a very welcome feature, allowing you to enjoy films and TV series with an extended soundstage.

Equipped with an ESS Sabre ES9028Q2M DAC, the EXN100 network player supports PCM files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD 512. Like the manufacturer’s other models, it can play music from streaming services such as Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer and Spotify, and files shared over the local network or via USB. Comprehensive and versatile, it provides access to all modern music sources and can rejuvenate an existing hi-fi setup.

Its 5-inch (12.7cm) screen is hard to miss, displaying the artwork and title of the currently playing track. Thanks to the control buttons on the front panel, you can also navigate through your music and playlists. What’s more, there’s the option of displaying analog VU meters, which will delight fans of vintage hi-fi.

Developed by Cambridge Audio, the StreamMagic app controls this network player.
