DSD and DXD, very high-resolution formats

Founded in 2007 with the ambition of sharing music with all enthusiasts in the best possible conditions, Qobuz has taken another step forward. The French streaming platform now includes DSD and DXD audio formats in its download store.

Both formats guarantee an uncompressed sound experience, thanks to a higher sampling rate than PCM. PCM, used for FLAC, WAV, ALAC and AIFF, has a sample rate of 192kHz, while DXD’s sample rate is almost double (354kHz). Better still, the DSD format goes even further, sampling at 2.8 MHz. In other words, DSD offers four times the resolution of CD!

A growing catalog of over 22,500 titles

Qobuz has already announced a catalog of over 22,550 titles in DSD and DXD formats, available to subscribers in the platform’s download store. These include legendary tracks such as Michael Jackson’s Thriller and the Beach Boys’ Surfin’ USA, as well as John Coltrane’s Blue Train and Keith Jarett’s The Köln Concert (Live). This collection is destined to grow, in partnership with prestigious labels such as Sony Music, Universal Music, Columbia, RCA, Epic and ECM.

Qobuz’s DSD and DXD audio formats are guaranteed to be DRM-free, i.e. with no restrictions on device playback. In this way, the French Qobuz platform has further established itself as the ideal solution for music lovers. True to its principles, the streaming service continues to offer privileged access to very high-resolution files for a unique sound experience.
