The Paris Audio Video Show 2024 took place on Saturday October 26 and Sunday October 27 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. An opportunity to test and compare today’s best 4K UHD TVs presented by the leading manufacturers: Hisense, Panasonic, Sony, TCL…

Looking for the best 4K HDR TV for your bedroom or living room? Thinking of buying a projector to enjoy movies, TV series and video games on the big screen? Here are the best models that were on display at the Paris Audio Video Show 2024, France’s biggest trade show dedicated to image and sound.
BenQ: 4K HDR cinema

At PAVS 2024, BenQ’s stand offered a true home theater experience. Visitors to the show were able to sit on a comfortable sofa in the heart of a dark room to enjoy a very large 4K HDR image delivered by the superb BenQ W5800. The flagship of the Taiwanese manufacturer, this projector is equipped with a powerful laser lamp (2,600 lumens Max.) to display rich, intense and realistic colors thanks to its very precise factory calibration. Its motorized lens features a 1.6x zoom, as well as horizontal and vertical lens shift to simplify installation. It can be installed at a distance of between 2 and 16 meters from the screen, to project an image measuring from 1.50 m to 7.6m.

Visitors could also discover the new BenQ GP520 and BenQ W2720i projectors.

The first is a compact model in 4K UHD definition with HDR that automatically adapts to ambient light. It integrates Google TV with Netflix, offers reduced latency for gaming and features USB-C and HDMI 2.1 connectors with an eARC function to send Dolby Atmos sound to a compatible soundbar or amp.

The second is a home theater model inaugurating a new chassis. Designed to offer excellent picture quality and flexible installation, it also ensures optimal gaming performance, with a low input lag (17 ms) and high refresh rates (60Hz 4K, 240Hz FHD). It integrates Android TV for access to streaming services, including Netflix, and ensures accurate color reproduction thanks to factory calibration and 95% DCI-P3 coverage. Compatible with HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG formats, it is the ideal projector for home theater and immersive gaming.
Epson: 4K laser home theater!

At the show, videoprojection enthusiasts also discovered the new Epson EH-Q Series 3LCD projectors, including the superb Epson EH-QB1000 with a brightness of 3,300 lumens, motorized lens shift (H/V) and 2.1x zoom. The manufacturer also unveiled the Epson EH-QL3000 and Epson EH-QL7000, two interchangeable-lens projectors with 6,000 and 10,000 lumens.

To properly implement these new features, Epson set up a genuine Dolby Atmos 9.2.4-channel cinema, in partnership with Elipson for the speakers, Denon for the amplification, R_volution for multimedia playback, Lumene for the projection screen and NorStone for the connectors.
Hisense: XXL ultra-bright TVs, laser projectors and wireless home theater!

Hisense’s XXL Hisense 110UXNQ TV is a gigantic display with a diagonal of 110 inches (279cm)!
This 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) TV features a QLED panel combined with high-performance Mini LED backlighting. This achieves exceptional levels of brightness, with peaks of up to 10,000 nits for striking contrasts. The backlight is modulated over 40,000 zones, guaranteeing deep blacks and extremely precise light control to eliminate any halo effect.
Compatible with HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive and Dolby Vision IQ formats, this Hisense giant screen adjusts the image in real time according to ambient brightness, to ensure a visual experience that’s always optimal. As for sound, the 4.2.2 CineStage X Surround audio system with Dolby Atmos ensures complete sound immersion.
Gamers will appreciate support for resolutions up to 4K at 144Hz, and the integration of VRR and ALLM technologies for perfect image fluidity.
Last but not least, this Hisense 110UXNQ TV runs on VIDAA OS, a smooth, responsive interface that provides access to the majority of streaming services such as Netflix, AppleTV+, Prime Video, YouTube, Disney+ and more.
Hisense also took advantage of the Paris Audio Video Show 2024 to present its latest systems to French home theater fans. Visitors could discover the Hisense HT Saturn, a compact Dolby Atmos system. It includes four speakers and a subwoofer that synchronize wirelessly to produce a truly immersive sound bubble.

More traditional, the Hisense U5120GW soundbar deploys 5.1.2-channel sound with a wide front stage and surround effects reflected of the side walls.
Last but not least, the world leader in laser projection unveiled its latest innovations on its stand, already seen at the IFA show in Berlin last September.

These include the Hisense C2 Ultra compact long-throw projector, and the Hisense PX3-PRO ultra-short-throw projector. Both models tested on this blog share a triple-laser light source reaching 3,000 lumens, and superb 4K image quality with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

Hisense also offered demos of its most powerful 4K Laser TV, the Hisense 120L9HA. This combines a 3,000-lumen 4K ultra-short-throw projector with a 120″ (3m) anti-glare screen. It delivers a bright, high-contrast image, even in daylight, with intense colors and a lamp lifespan of 25,000 hours. Dolby Vision, HDR10+ compatible and with integrated Dolby Atmos soundbar, this Laser TV ensures total immersion for viewers. What’s more, thanks to its integrated DTT, cable and satellite tuner and Smart TV Vidaa system, it accesses all TV channels as well as the main streaming services, effectively replacing a conventional TV.
JVC: 4K and 8K laser cinema!

Once again this year, the Japanese manufacturer’s stand appealed to fans of very large 4K images, thanks to the latest generation of JVC D-ILA laser projectors. Presented in a magnificent projection room set up for the occasion, the JVC DLA-NZ500, one of the smallest native 4K projectors in the world, as well as the JVC DLA-NZ800 and JVC DLA-NZ900, thrilled spectators!
JVC’s native 4K laser projectors deliver outstanding image quality, with excellent contrast levels and optimized HDR content management for movies, TV series and video games. These JVC D-ILA 4K projectors are equipped with all-glass lenses that preserve the full brightness and sharpness of the image. They feature 48 Gbit/s-compatible HDMI 2.1 inputs, are HDR10+ compatible and support 120Hz 4K and 60Hz 8K video streams!
To feed these JVC Premium projectors with 4K and 8K images, the Japanese manufacturer placed its trust in the R_volution Player One 8K network player, while the audio was entrusted to the Marantz Cinema 30 amplifier. The latter powered an SVS speaker system in Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 channel configuration, with two SVS SB3000 subwoofers, and the support of an Antimode 8033 SII DSPeaker module to linearize the bass response curve.
Leica: ultra-short focal length projectors

Leica returned to PAVS 2024 this year with the Leica Cine 1. This extraordinary ultra-short-throw triple laser projector is the fruit of a partnership between the famous camera manufacturer and Hisense, world leader in laser TVs. The Leica Cine 1 features a high-quality glass lens for exceptional image sharpness. It projects films and series in 4K HDR10+ and Dolby Vision with extremely natural colors and a remarkable level of contrast. It was presented in association with a Lumene Eden Extra Bright anti-glare electric projection screen that optimizes daylight projection.
Panasonic: reference OLED 4K TVs and 4K Mini LED TVs

On the Panasonic stand, the new ranges of 4K OLED TV sets caught the attention of visitors, especially for the most discerning movie buffs. Visitors particularly appreciated the premium models in the Panasonic Z95A range, which feature a second-generation Meta OLED panel. Offering ever greater brightness, these TVs ensure optimal display of 4K HDR content.
A true reference in the field of cinema picture, the Japanese manufacturer unveiled its Z95A range of TVs with exceptional colorimetric accuracy. The panel is calibrated with the support of renowned colorists working for the biggest Hollywood studios, promising unparalleled realism.
Visitors to the show could also appreciate the efficiency of the high-performance 5.1.2-channel audio system developed by Technics. The soundbar integrated under the screen, combined with side and vertical drivers and supported by a woofer for low frequencies, ensures excellent sound immersion.

The Z85A OLED TVs were also present, as was the Panasonic W95A Mini LED series. On the source side, the manufacturer highlighted its excellent Panasonic DP-UB820 and Panasonic DP-UB9000 Blu-ray players.

Sony : OLED TVs, Mini LEDs and home theater laser projectors

Like every year, the Sony stand attracted a large number of home theater enthusiasts, with a dedicated room full of starry-eyed visitors. Sony’s latest 4K laser projectors, the Sony Bravia Projector 8 and Sony Bravia Projector 9, were on display, as well as the Sony VPL-XW5000, Sony’s most affordable projector, and Sony’s laser projection flagship, the imposing Sony VPL-GTZ380ES with its VPLL-Z8008 lens.

For the audio side of things, Sony renewed its confidence in French glass speaker manufacturer Waterfall, which provided the soundtrack for the cinema room at the Japanese stand. Waterfall Elora Evo L/R and Waterfall Elora Evo Center speakers were used to deliver the Dolby Atmos audio tracks of the film extracts shown during the demos, with Waterfall HF2-250 subwoofers providing bass support.
They were powered by Trinnov Audio electronics (Trinnov Altitude32 AV preamp and Trinnov Amplitude16 power amp), with the benefit of brand-new WaveForming technology responsible for canceling the formation of standing waves, to guarantee perfectly balanced sound, whatever the position of the spectators in the room.
The Sony projectors were powered exclusively by R_volution electronics: an R_volution NAS for multimedia file storage, combined with an R_volution PlayerMini, an R_volution PlayerOne 8K and an R_volution PlayerPro 8K. Video processing was handled by the powerful Madvr Envy Core and Madvr Envy Extreme MK2.

In addition to the superb home theater room showcasing today’s best Sony SXRD 4K projectors, the Sony stand at the Paris Audio Video Show featured the manufacturer’s latest TVs. In the spotlight, the new generations of Sony Bravia 7 and Sony Bravia 9 Mini LED TVs vied for attention with the Sony Bravia 8 OLED TV range.

The manufacturer highlighted the qualities of its 4K HDR TVs, which combine intense colors with very high brightness to optimize contrast on wide dynamic range content. These TVs are equally suited to home theater (HDR10, Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced) and gaming sessions (120Hz 4K, VRR, ALLM, Perfect For PlayStation 5 certification).

TCL: Giant QLED Mini LED TVs, Lifestyle TVs and soundbars

TCL didn’t go unnoticed, with one of the most attractive TV stands at the Paris Audio Video Show 2024! A forerunner in Mini LED technology, the Chinese brand presented the TCL 115X955 Max, a giant 115″ (2.92m) TV! It features a brand-new, exclusive Mini LED technology that uses micro-lenses to increase backlight power and regulate brightness more precisely. Exclusive QLED Pro (next-generation Quantum Dot) technology ensures extremely wide colorimetric coverage, for ultra-realistic images. Gamers benefit from optimal responsiveness and fluidity up to 144Hz 4K and 240Hz 2K, with support for ALLM, VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. As for sound, this giant screen deploys a system to match its image, with a 120-watt Dolby Atmos 6.2.2 channel audio section by Onkyo.

The other major attraction on the TCL stand was undoubtedly the new TCL NXTFrame Lifestyle TV range, epitomized by the 65″ (164cm) TCL NXTFrame 65A300 Pro model. Supplied without feet (table stand and floor stand optional), this TV comes with a dedicated wall bracket for to hang it on the wall like a painting. It is supplied with a soundbar and a wireless subwoofer designed by Bang & Olufsen to deliver powerful, immersive sound while integrating perfectly under the TV. Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG formats are supported to enhance contrast and image depth. This TV also offers a smooth, immersive gaming experience, with support for 4K up to 144Hz.
TCL’s stand also featured the very large TCL 98Q9B (2.5m) and TCL 85X11H TVs, as well as the QLED Mini LED TCL 75C855 (TCL 75C89B), whose 65″ version we recently tested.

Finally, the TCL stand also featured the TCL Q75H and TCL Ray-Danz Q85H soundbars. The latter stands out for its 7.1.4-channel configuration and support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundtracks. It boasts a total power output of 860 watts, divided between the soundbar, the wireless subwoofer and the two wireless surround speakers.
Xgimi: new compact, ultra-short-throw and 4K projectors
On the stand of Chinese video projection specialist Xgimi, visitors to the PAVS 2024 edition could discover all the manufacturer’s new products, unveiled at IFA last month.

An opportunity to admire the exceptional design of the Xgimi MoGo 3 Pro and Xgimi Elfin Flip projectors, two compact Full HD HDR models mounted on a swing stand for wall or ceiling projection. Automatic image adjustments and direct access to Netflix are shared by both projectors. The Elfin Flip adds a low-latency gaming mode, while the MoGo 3 Pro benefits from all streaming services via the integrated Google TV interface. Both ensure quick and easy installation and immersive viewing in any room of the house, with an integrated Dolby Audio-compatible audio section.

Xgimi also presented the Xgimi Horizon S Max, its new compact 4K Dual Light (laser + LED) projector. Certified IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Vision, and also featuring a low-latency gaming mode, it features a Harman Kardon audio system for perfectly autonomous use, without the need for a separate audio system. Keystone correction takes place automatically, in real time, to ensure the best possible viewing experience.

Last but not least, the new Xgimi Aura 2 ultra-short-throw projector was also unveiled to visitors. Designed to project a very large image at a short distance from the wall, it benefits from automated image adjustments and offers a brightness of 2,300 ISO lumens, enabling it to project effectively in the middle of the day. This projector offers a home IMAX and Dolby Vision experience, with an image complemented by immersive Dolby Atmos 60-watt sound to fully experience every adventure projected onto the screen.
