I’d been looking for a device that would let me listen to my CDs away from my audiophile hi-fi system. It’s a perfect companion for music lovers like me. I use it with my Focal Elegia headphones. The purity, power and musical detail are just fabulous. I’m completely won over. I tested it with Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Berlioz as well as Black Metal. The result is perfect! There’s no distortion. Everything is balanced. I’m really pleased that FiiO is thinking of people who still like to experience their music through the CD format. In my opinion, a flawless performance. I strongly recommend using it with a good pair of headphones. Bluetooth sound is also highly detailed.

Xgimi Horizon S Max projector

- Ultra HD 4K image quality
- IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Vision certification
- Image size: 40″ (1m) – 200″ (5m)
- Brightness: ISO 3,100 lumens
- Low-latency gaming mode
- Integrated Harman Kardon audio system
- Android TV 11.0 for streaming
- Price: €1,999
I’m very satisfied with this device, which I’ve mounted on the ceiling using the XGIMI ceiling mount, 3m from the screen, on the right-hand side. The sound is decent, but not amazing, so I paired it via Bluetooth to a Bose Smart 300 soundbar that I placed behind the screen. It’s a blast even without the subwoofer! I’m no expert, but I can’t tell the difference with an LED mega TV. It’s magnificent. The picture is 2.3m wide. Even at 1m from the device, it makes no noise at all. It’s totally inaudible on the ceiling.

From the very first track I listened to (Qobuz Hi-res), I was impressed by the beautiful sonic definition, which is very precise without falling into analytical excess; excellent dynamics with an airy soundstage where you can visualize the placement of instruments and vocals (a big evolution compared to the M11, which was much flatter with a compressed soundstage). Tone is remarkable, with excellent balance across the entire spectrum; the bass is sufficiently wide and dynamic, but not overpowering; the textured midrange and warm vocals stand out with resolution; the highs are sparkling and incisive if need be, without harshness or shrillness.

Denon AVC-A1H AV receiver

- Multichannel sound: DTS HD Master, IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D, 360 Reality Audio / MPEG H
- Audio formats: MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, WAV

- HDMI, RCA, PHONO MM, optical, coaxial, subwoofer, USB audio, 6.35mm jack, calibration microphone jack (3.5mm), radio tuner input
- Price: €6,990
It’s simple: whatever the brand, this receiver is the best integrated amp on the market at under €7000. It’s more complete, with top-notch menus, enormous power and a huge number of potential channels. […] The best option for those who only want one receiver. The balance is exactly right between classic Denon (up to the 6000 series) and Marantz devices. Neither clear (Marantz) nor soft (Denon in the highs).

Sonus Faber Lumina III floorstanding speakers

- 3-way speaker
- Bass-reflex, port under the base of the speaker
- 2 woofers, 1 midrange driver, 1 D.A.D tweeter
- Frequency response: 40Hz to 24kHz
- Price: €2,199
After 3 hours of listening, the result is simply impressive, even though the break-in is just beginning. However, this combination won’t work miracles with poor recordings.

Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M USB audio DAC

- Frequency response: 10Hz to 50kHz

Suffice to say, I think it would be hard to find anything better and more balanced at this price! […] Anyway, it’s sleek, practical (at a reasonable price for a product of this caliber) and, what’s more, it’s got great sound!

Goldring Ethos phono cartridge

- Moving-coil cartridge (MC)
- Aluminum frame and cantilever
- Vital Fine Line stylus
- Frequency response: 10Hz – 32kHz
- Price: €1,095
From the very first notes engraved on a vinyl from my collection, the dynamics, clarity, beauty of timbre and presence of human voices were instantly apparent. What’s more, its neutral, uncolored balance (especially in the lower frequencies) is a perfect match for my EAR Yoshino tube preamplifier, which give it that pleasant touch of warmth.

Cayin HA-6A headphone amp

- Tube headphone amplifier
- Three-position gain selector (L, M, H)
- EL34 power tubes
- Triode or ultra-linear mode
- VU meters
- Frequency response: 10Hz to 65kHz

- Price: €2,490
Build: […] I can confirm, after several weeks of use and with my Peacock headphones, that no hiss is perceptible at any volume.
Leopolo’s review, November 15, 2024
Connectors: the connectors are comprehensive, and you can probably plug in any headphones with a balanced or unbalanced connection (not electrostatic headphones, of course). […]
Sound: after running in, the contribution of the KR tubes is undeniable, the KT88s are very straight and extraordinarily musical in Triode mode. […]
Conclusion: a headphone amplifier of the highest quality, I recommend it in this price range.

FiiO KA15 portable headphone amp and DAC

- Dual CS43198 DAC
- Double SGM 8262 amplification
- Up to 560mW into 32 ohms (balanced)
- 32-bit/768kHz and DSD256 compatible
- Control app for Android and web interface
- LCD screen with cassette tape simulation
- USB-C port, 3.5mm mini-jack and 4.4mm Pentaconn headphone outputs
- Price: €109
It’s a good match for the Meze 109 Pro, which have a slightly V-shaped signature. The FiiO KA15 softens the bass and treble a little, adding substance to the mids and just the right amount of detail. Connectivity is reduced to the bare minimum (at least there’s the balanced port), but its simplicity is its charm, in my opinion. Simple and effective plug and play. For the price, I’m very satisfied.

- Frequency response: 63Hz to 20kHz
- Autonomy: up to 12 hours
- Bluetooth 5.1

- Price: €109
This little Flip 6 is an excellent speaker Bluetooth speaker for those who like to listen to music everywhere. With its meticulous, rather robust design, it reproduces a fairly accurate and convincing full-spectrum sound. The bass is truly astonishing for its size. […] It’s a pleasure to listen to.
