FiiO is once again pushing the boundaries of innovation with the launch of its new FiiO S15 network audio player. With its large touchscreen, Android system with smooth access to major streaming platforms, 32-bit/768kHz high-resolution DAC and preamplifier function with an HDMI ARC input, this new model looks to be a serious competitor in a sector that’s currently dominated by Eversolo, WiiM and Bluesound.

A major competitor

Nothing seems to be slowing FiiO down, and the company is proving to be one of the most active and innovative brands of the year. After the success of the FiiO R7 and FiiO R9 headphone amp and streamers, the Asian manufacturer is adding to its range of network players with the FiiO S15, which has a full-length format adapted to hi-fi standards. This model has many advantages that allow it to compete with the current market leaders: the Eversolo DMP-A6 and Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition. To this end, it features an even bigger touchscreen (7.84 inches across), making it easier to navigate through the various streaming apps and settings. During playback, it can display song information, the album cover, and even a VU meter for a nice vintage touch.

The FiiO S15 network player features a large touchscreen for fast, fingertip control of music and to display a host of information during playback.

Quality components

To guarantee excellent sound performance, the FiiO S15 streamer features high-quality components, starting with an ultra-low-noise linear power supply. The various audio stages are physically isolated, including the conversion circuit. The latter uses the latest AKM AK4499EX DAC with AK4191EQ controller. The XMOS V16AOPP processor and dual clocks reduce jitter to a minimum, making the most of Hi-Res music up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512.

Thanks to its high-quality components, the FiiO S15 network player makes sure you get the best out of all your sources, including Hi-Res files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512.

Android with streaming

The FiiO S15 network player is based on an Android 12 operating system to deliver an experience worthy of the best smartphones. It supports apps from the major streaming platforms, including Qobuz, Tidal, Amazon Music, Spotify and Deezer. Access to web radios is also possible, as well as DLNA playback, AirPlay and Bluetooth reception. The latter is bi-directional, enabling streaming to headphones or a pair of connected speakers.

With its Android operating system, the FiiO S15 streamer can access the main streaming platforms, as well as web radios and music shared over the local network.

Preamplifier and DAC

Much more than a simple streamer, the FiiO S15 can also be used as a preamplifier to centralize all the sources of an audio-video system. It features two RCA line inputs and five digital inputs: optical, coaxial, AES/EBU, HDMI and HDMI ARC. In addition, local file playback is possible from a USB device (stick, disk or computer), an SD card or directly internally via the dedicated SSD rack. Finally, RCA, XLR and digital outputs make it easy to combine the S15 with any hi-fi amp, power amp or DAC.

Thanks to its comprehensive range of connectors, the FiiO S15 network player and preamplifier can be combined with all audio-video system sources, including TVs and PCs.

With the FiiO S15 network player, the Asian manufacturer continues to consolidate its position as a leader in audio innovation, offering a comprehensive, versatile solution for playing digital music as well as processing physical sources. This latest-generation streamer is now available to pre-order on Son-Vidéo.com at a price of €1,090. First deliveries are scheduled for early next year. With its modern design, top-level technical performance and numerous features, it promises to be an excellent alternative, capable of competing with the industry’s benchmarks.
