Presentation

TESLA.45 transducers

The brand defines the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII headphones as the ideal solution for recording and monitoring. They feature German-made TESLA.45 transducers. The powerful neodymium magnet achieves a flux density of over one tesla in the voice coil air gap, resulting in particularly high performance from the driver. The headphones therefore promise detailed, precise musicality, deep bass, a natural midrange and crystal-clear highs.

These closed-back circumaural (over-ear) headphones guarantee optimum acoustic isolation, making them perfect for slightly noisy environments or intensive recording sessions.

The Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII headphones feature TESLA.45 transducers over a frequency range of 5Hz to 40kHz.

Versatility and precision for the studio

The Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII headphones stand out for their versatility, thanks to the two sets of included ear pads: one in velvet for a slightly accentuated bass response, and one in synthetic leather for a more neutral sound. With an extended frequency response from 5Hz to 40kHz, they promise an accurate, dynamic reproduction of the smallest sonic details. Their design guarantees an analytical sound signature in all scenarios, whether you’re recording, mixing or editing.

With their 30-ohm impedance, the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII adapt to a wide range of sources, here with the FiiO R7 network player.

With an impedance of 30 ohms, they are compatible with a wide range of audio equipment. To meet the demands of professionals, the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII come with two detachable 3.5mm mini-jack cables: a straight 3-meter cable and a 5-meter coiled cable. Both models feature a secure 3-pin mini-XLR connector for the headset. A 6.35mm stereo adapter completes the package for extended compatibility with various audio devices, such as headphone amplifiers and mixing consoles.

To ensure perfect sound transmission, the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII hi-fi headphones are equipped with a lockable 3-pin mini-XLR connector.

Comfort and robustness

Designed to meet the needs of discerning users, the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII wired headphones combine comfort and durability. Their flexible, spring steel headband distributes their 377 grams evenly. What’s more, the velvet and leatherette ear pads are perfectly padded, making them a pleasure to wear. The velvet model is recommended for longer listening sessions, while the imitation leather model is preferable for shorter listening sessions or for better sound isolation. In addition to adjusting sound reproduction depending on the chosen material, these interchangeable ear pads extend the lifespan of the headphones as they can be replaced when damaged. However, a simpler fastening system, such as a clip mechanism or, better still, a magnetic one, would have been appreciated to make them easier to replace.

The Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII headphones’ ear pads are replaceable. To do this, you need to slide the extra ring of material inside the pad into the groove on the ear cup.

Every pair of Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII headphones is made in Germany with rigorous quality controls, guaranteeing the highest build quality. When you pick them up, you instantly get a feel of how robust they are. Solid materials such as anodized metal ensure unfailing durability. What’s more, almost all parts are replaceable (pads, headband, cable…), making them an excellent long-term investment.

Listening conditions

To put the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII headphones through their paces, we used them with various devices, including the FiiO R7 headphone amp, a smartphone and a computer. We listened to Hi-Res music streamed from Qobuz and Spotify.

Easy to power, the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII headphones can be used with a headphone amp, but also with a smartphone or computer.

Listening impressions

The Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII closed-back headphones excelled with both powerful bass and more subtle vocal compositions. Their sound reproduction was precise, immersive and perfectly balanced. We were impressed by its ability to reveal a multitude of details with great fidelity. On Samm Henshaw’s Broke, the headphones revealed the richness of the acoustic instruments and percussion. The deep bass was firm and perfectly controlled, without bleeding into the midrange. Samm Henshaw’s warm vocals came through clearly, offering total immersion in the track’s soulful energy.

The Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII hi-fi headphones offer a highly detailed, immersive sound reproduction.

On Kendrick Lamar’s Humble, the DT 1770 Pro MKII demonstrated its mastery of powerful, punchy bass. The beat was reproduced with precision, making you want to turn up the volume. Vocals and synthetic effects remained clean and not at all aggressive, allowing us to listen to music for long periods of time without fatigue. Finally, listening to Teddy Swims’ Lose Control allowed us to highlight the headphones’ ability to reproduce vocal textures. The artist’s husky, powerful voice was accurately rendered. The instrumental arrangements, more subtle than on previous tracks, benefited from perfect spatial separation, where each guitar note and keyboard chord was carefully positioned without overlapping.

The two types of ear pads offered slightly different listening experiences. The velvet ones provided a warmer sound with more bass presence, while the leatherette ones delivered a more neutral, analytical sound signature.
