Elipson Prestige 4i floorstanding speakers

- Floorstanding speakers
- 3-way bass-reflex
- 2 sandwich cone and ported voice coil woofers, 1 paper cone and ported voice coil midrange driver and 1 fabric dome tweeter
- Power: 150W
- Sensitivity: 92 dB/1W/1m
- Bandwidth: 32Hz to 20kHz
- Impedance: 8 ohms
- Price: €699
The soundstage is quite remarkable. I’ve never had the chance to listen to €3,000, €10,000 or €20,000 speakers, but I’d be curious to hear the difference, because these Elipsons are a real pleasure, all the more so when you consider the price. […] Excellent speakers for this price, offering a very accurate reproduction of the recording, nothing is emphasized or “boosted”!

Koss UR40 RW V2 hi-fi headphones

- Semi-open, over-ear headphones
- Frequency response: 15-22,000Hz
- Impedance: 60 ohms
- Sensitivity: 98 dB SPL/1mW
- 3.5mm mini-jack cable
- Price: €59
I’d say they’re a bit like the Koss Porta pro, but with a circumaural design. In terms of sound, I find them very clear, even very slightly warm on certain tracks, without sacrificing too much in the way of low frequencies. One good point is that they’re very light, and you almost forget you’re wearing them. They have very good dynamics and a lot of personality, requiring little power to be driven for 60 ohms.

LG OLED77G4 TV

- High-brightness OLED panel (META 2.0)
- Deep blacks, accurate and vivid colors
- 4 ALLM/VRR HDMI 2.1 inputs
- WebOS smart TV (5 years of updates)
- Dolby Vision/Atmos
- Chromecast/AirPlay 2
- Price: €3,990
Before this LG, I had the Philips OLED804. But despite that, what an improvement in picture quality and brightness, with 4 HDMI 2.1 ports too. I’ve gone from 55 to 77 inches and it’s amazing. Especially as I took the opportunity to buy a very good Blu-ray player, a good TV, one of the best soundbars and all the high-quality cables that go with it. So yes, it’s quite a budget, but I don’t regret it at all! As a 4K Blu-ray and video game collector, whether it’s for gaming or movie nights, it’s a real treat. My best purchase in all these years, and the best gear in 2024.

NAD CS1 network player

- Network player, DAC
- Frequency response: 20-20kHz +/-0.3 dB (50kHz @ -3 dB)
- Supported formats: PCM, MP3, AC3, Ogg Vorbis, HE-AAC, MQA and WMA
- RJ45 Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, DLNA/UpnP, NFC
- 3.5mm mini-jack, RCA, Toslink optical, USB-C
- Price: €349
I was looking for a convenient way to listen to Radio France channels via the dedicated app. Now I can do just that: the NAD CS1 supports AirPlay playback. Connected to a much more expensive DAC and a good power supply, the sound quality is very satisfying with both live classical music and jazz. Moreover, it’s possible to access Qobuz through mConnect.

Astell&Kern HC2 portable audio DAC

- Portable DAC and headphone amp
- Double Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC
- 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256 compatible
- Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz
- Signal-to-noise ratio: 122 dB

- Price: €199
The Astell & Kern HC2 is a very high quality Hi-Res micro-amplifier/audio converter that supports digital audio streams up to 24-bit and 384kHz, as well as digital direct stream. The voltage amplifier delivers 4 volts at an impedance of 1.5 ohms. As a result, it can power the most demanding planar magnetic and electrostatic headphones. […] A real pleasure that I can’t get enough of, as well as almost unbeatable listening comfort. A truly wonderful find, and very practical to carry around.

Advance Paris A10 Classic amplifier

- ECC81 and 12AT7 tube preamplifiers
- Class AB power amplification
- Toroidal power transformer
- AKM AK4490 DAC
- 32-bit/384kHz and DSD 11.2 MHz compatible

- RCA, XLR, optical, coaxial, phono and Main-in inputs / pre-out, REC, subwoofer, headphone and trigger outputs / USB and HDMI (ARC) ports, screw speaker terminals

My feedback after several hundred hours of listening sessions [with my Focal Aria 936], is that it’s a perfect match. To sum up, the Advance Paris A10 + Focal 936 is magic. The current reserve is incredible for these speakers, which require a lot of power (I previously used a Musical Fidelity amp to power them, but the Advance Paris takes them to another dimension).

Earsonics Elements in-ear monitors

- Closed-back in-ear monitors
- 3-way design
- Crossover with impedance corrector
- 2 x balanced armature transducers + 1 x dynamic transducer
- Sensitivity: 125 dB/mW
- Frequency response: 10Hz – 20kHz
- Price: €399
These are my first IEMs, they’re very light and easy to insert in your ears once you’ve chosen the right ear tips. The bass is deep and quite round. It’s as if I’m wearing headphones because the sound is very enveloping. The lows are slightly subdued on some tracks. The sound is generally quite spacious, with wideband recordings, the result is almost the same as with the Focal Elegia, which are semi-open headphones.

Panasonic TV-55Z95A TV

- TV with Master OLED Ultimate panel
- HDR10+ Adaptive / Dolby Vision IQ
- Filmmaker mode
- 144Hz 4K VRR gaming
- FreeSync Premium, G-Sync Compatible
- 7.1 Dolby Atmos soundbar
- Price: €1,790
For me, Panasonic’s image processing makes a big difference. The “Filmmaker” mode (which I use with a standard white balance) is simply incredible on this television. I rediscovered Dune 2 and its scenery (desert, black and white scenes shot in infrared, etc.). This television is made for perfectionist like me, who believe that it’s essential to be able to reproduce the visual storytelling on a receiver. And this TV does just that! I’m ecstatic… […]

- HDR-optimized lens
- Sony X1 Ultimate video processor
- IMAX Enhanced certified

I hesitated a bit at first, as it’s quite the budget, but after trying it out at Son-Video.com Bordeaux (thanks Audrey), I couldn’t go back! It was too late, I had to have it! I had a “4k” projector before, but I realize that there’s 4k, and then there’s 4K! The image is simply breathtaking.

LG UltraGear 32GR93U-B gaming monitor
- 32-inch UHD (3,840×2,160)
- 144Hz refresh rate
- 1ms IPS (GtG) response time
- DisplayHDRTM 400 VESA
- NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible
- AMD FreeSync Premium
- Price: €599.99
Now that I’ve had this screen for a year, I can tell you that the experience I’ve had with mainly single-player games is simply flawless. Whether it’s Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4 REMAKE and very soon Monster Hunter Wilds, this screen does the job, and more. At a price that’s accessible for me, its performance is nothing short of incredible. For console gamers, it’s perfect ad you’ve got HDMI 2.1, but for PC gamers like me, I’d recommend a high-end PC with a powerful graphics card because believe me, the GPU is going to suffer. One of the best monitors if you’re not bothered about OLED.
