The German brand has just announced the release of its latest hi-fi headphones, named Sennheiser HD 550 (HD 505 in China), and priced at €279.90. These open-back headphones for high-fidelity sound enthusiasts promise a detailed, balanced reproduction, suitable for music, films and video games.

Sound performance and technical specifications
The Sennheiser HD 550 feature a 120-ohm dynamic transducer in each earpiece. They are manufactured at the Sennheiser factory in Tullamore, Ireland, and feature an angled profile. This design aims to recreate the optimal triangular listening position found in high-end hi-fi systems and recording studios.

The Sennheiser HD 550 hi-fi headphones feature a frequency response that extends from 12 to 38,500Hz, while their total harmonic distortion is measured at less than 0.2%. As a result, they promise to be just as enjoyable for listening to music as they are for immersing yourself in films and video games.
Design, comfort and connectors
The Sennheiser HD 550 is based on the design of the HD 500 series. Its leatherette headband and metal mesh ear cups offer a good balance of elegance and solidity. They are also modular, with ear pads and cables that can be replaced without any tools. What’s more, their weight of 237 grams ensures long-lasting comfort. The headphones are supplied with a detachable 1.8m 3.5mm mini-jack cable and a 6.35mm jack adapter for compatibility with all hi-fi amplifiers, AVRs and sound cards.

With the HD 550, Sennheiser offers a pair of open-back headphones that combines sound quality, comfort and versatility. Designed to fit into all audio configurations, these audiophile headphones promise to be an invitation to rediscover all your content – music, films, video games – with hi-fi sound.
