Q Acoustics Q Sub Series: new hi-fi and home theater subwoofers

British manufacturer Q Acoustics presents its new range of Q Sub Series subwoofers, including the Q SUB80, Q SUB100 and Q SUB120 models. Equipped with drivers measuring 8″ to 12″ combined with DSP-optimized amplification, these subwoofers promise remarkable performance in both hi-fi and home theater settings.

8″ to 12″ drivers

The new Q Sub Series subwoofer range is designed to deliver a precise, impactful and controlled bass reproduction, suitable for all types of audio systems and all room sizes. To achieve this, it includes three models, with a driver of 8 inches for the Q Acoustics Q SUB80, 10 inches for the Q Acoustics Q SUB100 and 12″ for the Q Acoustics Q SUB120, all of which use a paper pulp cone with a rubber, long-throw surround to optimize air displacement. The voice coil, measuring 1.5″ for the Q SUB80 and 2″ for the Q SUB100 and Q SUB120, offer perfect control for an accurate, distortion-free low-frequency reproduction.

Amplification with DSP processing

The Q Acoustics Q SUB80, Q SUB100 and Q SUB120 subwoofers are all equipped with high-efficiency amplifiers, rated at 200, 250 and 300W RMS respectively. Their power stage, made up of four class D modules, ensures high dynamic range to respond instantly to the slightest soundtrack demands. To optimize the reproduction, these amplifiers are combined with DSPs. The latter are capable of automatically adapting gain according to the input signal, offering optimized settings for first-rate, distortion-free performance.

Reinforced cabinet

The British manufacturer has always paid great attention to the cabinets of its speakers, and the Q Sub Series is no exception. They feature a thick cabinet with dart-shaped internal bracing to optimize mechanical stability and absorb all the force generated by driver. The lines are minimalist, with rounded edges and a design reminiscent of the brand’s speakers. At the rear, the Q Sub Series cabinets are equipped with an RCA input switchable to line or LFE level. Finally, the subwoofer’s can be taken out of standby mode manually or automatically when a signal is received on the RCA input or trigger port.

The new Q Acoustics Q SUB80, Q SUB100 and Q SUB120 subwoofers are now available to pre-order on Son-Vidéo.com, priced at €749, €875 and €990 respectively. First deliveries are scheduled for the end of March.
