British manufacturer Rega has updated its best-selling, multi-award-winning amp with the new Rega Brio MK7. This seventh generation brings technical improvements and an integrated DAC, while retaining the simplicity and sound quality that characterize this iconic class A model.

A revisited classic

Launched in 1991, the Rega Brio has established itself as the British manufacturer’s most popular amplifier model, thanks to its high sonic performance in a compact format. Since its release, the Brio has undergone several evolutions, reflecting the brand’s commitment to continually improving its electronics. The Rega Brio MK7 is the seventh generation of this iconic model, retaining its reduced size for easy installation in tight spaces. The aluminum chassis is sturdy, with the brand’s typical flawless finish. The minimalist, streamlined front panel remains unchanged, with only a volume knob, source selector and on/off button.

The Rega Brio MK7 amplifier keeps the compact, minimalist format of its predecessors, while adding a completely redesigned internal circuit for even greater performance.

Class A amplification

Hand-assembled in the manufacturer’s British workshops, the Rega Brio MK7 amp adopts a redesigned circuit, with a dual power supply to separate the data processing and power stages. This approach limits interference by ensuring total isolation. The audio circuit operates in class A and can deliver a comfortable power of 2 x 50W into 8 ohms and 2 x 72W into 6 ohms. As a result, this amplifier is capable of efficiently powering numerous pairs of bookshelf speakers or small floorstanding speakers. It can also power a pair of headphones thanks to a dedicated amplifier.

With its dual power supply and optimized audio circuitry, the Rega Brio MK7 amp promises superior musicality and an accurate reproduction of harmonics.

Integrated 24-bit/192kHz DAC

For the first time in the Brio series, the Rega Brio MK7 amplifier incorporates a digital circuit with coaxial and optical inputs. These are combined with a DAC designed in-house. It supports PCM streams up to 24-bit/192kHz, ideal for exploiting the full potential of a CD player, network player or HD TV. Unfortunately, however, HDMI ARC is no longer a standard feature. Finally, the rest of the connectors include four RCA inputs, including a phono input compatible with turntables equipped with an MM cartridge.

Thanks to its analog and digital inputs, the Rega Brio MK7 amplifier can be easily combined with any source such as a network player, CD player or turntable.

Price and availability

The Rega Brio MK7 amp upholds the British brand’s reputation by offering a model that’s more comprehensive and musical than ever, thanks to its redesigned circuits and integrated DAC. This latest-generation amp is now available to pre-order on Son-Vidéo.com at a price of €1,049. First deliveries are scheduled for early May.
