SVS is shaking up the world of home theater and high fidelity with the launch of the new 5000 R|Evolution series. With these two models, the SB-5000 R|Evolution (sealed) and the PB-5000 R|Evolution (bass-reflex), the American brand aims to bring a level of performance hitherto reserved for its most exclusive models to a greater number of users, by integrating the innovations of the recent 17-Ultra series.
SVS DNA: a quest for excellence
Founded in 1998 with the goal of offering subwoofers capable of competing with the best models on the market, without users blowing their budget, SVS has rapidly established itself as a benchmark among enthusiasts of deep, controlled bass. By focusing on innovation, build quality and a highly user-oriented approach (including an exemplary control app), the brand has created a loyal community of fans. The 5000 R|Evolution series is a perfect illustration of this philosophy: concentrating a maximum of advanced technologies in a more accessible format.

15″ driver
Much more than mere evolutions of the 4000 series, the SVS SB-5000 and PB-5000 R|Evolution subwoofers have been completely redesigned, with a new driver, a new amplifier, completely revised electronics and even a new software platform. At the heart of the system, the new 15″ (38cm) driver is a true work of acoustic art. Its design is based on a novel structure with a flat 3-inch double-wound voice coil. It offers optimized heat dissipation, exemplary linearity and more stable energy transfer, even at high volume. The toroidal ferrite magnet weighs a whopping 17kg, guaranteeing exceptional driving force.

The ultra-rigid cone rests on a rubber (nitrile-butadiene) high excursion parabolic surround, capable of withstanding the highest acoustic pressures. The SVS SB-5000 R|Evolution subwoofer promises perfectly controlled bass down to 17Hz, while its bass-reflex version can go down to 13Hz thanks to its triple port and extended internal volume.

2,000W RMS dual-mono amplification
The use of an extraordinary driver requires equally extraordinary amplification. Here, this includes two separate 1,000W RMS class D modules capable of working in symbiosis to deliver a nominal power of 2,000W to the driver. This power is provided by eight 60A MOSFET transistors. This architecture makes it possible to considerably increase the current flowing through the motor, while maintaining perfect control of the signal, even at very high levels. It’s this marriage of brute force and precision that gives the 5000 R|Evolution series its signature sound: abyssal foundation, striking dynamics, but also a finesse that will appeal to the most discerning audiophiles.

Extreme power also means power supply constraints. SVS has therefore integrated a line conditioner with PFC (Power Factor Correction). This stabilizes the incoming voltage, eliminates unwanted interference, and preserves signal quality even in the event of voltage fluctuations. The result is a clear reduction in waveform distortion linked to mains power quality. As a result, the bass is more nuanced and accurate.
Analog Devices 295 MHz DSP
The system’s intelligence is based on an Analog Devices DSP clocked at 295 MHz, the most powerful ever integrated into an SVS subwoofer. It orchestrates all internal processing such as frequency response management (equalization, low-pass filter, phase, etc.), real-time thermal and current protection, while ensuring perfect acoustic linearity. Combined with high-end DACs with a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB, it guarantees precise, distortion-free sound, even at high volume.

Auto Room Correction
A major new feature of this generation, the 5000 R|Evolution series inaugurates the Auto Room Correction function on the most accessible SVS models. Using the smartphone’s built-in microphone, the free SVS app analyzes the room’s acoustics and automatically applies equalization filters to correct resonance, peaks and valleys that alter bass fidelity. The process is simple, intuitive and highly effective. In just a few minutes, your subwoofer is calibrated for your specific listening environment. A firmware update will soon enhance this feature for even greater precision.

Prices and availability
The new 5000 R|Evolution series subwoofers will shortly be available to pre-order on Son-Vidéo.com, priced at €2,799 for the sealed version (SVS SB-5000 R|Evolution) and €3,499 for the bass-reflex version (SVS PB-5000 R|Evolution). Both models will be available in matte black and lacquered black.
