Six years after its last model, Sony has announced the release of a new 4K Blu-ray player priced at €299. HDR10 and Dolby Vision compatible, the Sony UBP-X700/K also supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X multichannel audio formats. As a result, this 4K Blu-ray player should delight physical media collectors, by also music lovers, as it can play the DSD streams of SACD discs and FLAC files.

Going back to basics
The Sony UBP-X700/K 4K Blu-ray player has the same design as its predecessor, the UBP-X700, but foregoes the latter’s connected features (Wi-Fi, Spotify Connect) to focus on the essentials. As a result, this Blu-ray player lets you enjoy all videos in ultra high resolution, even movies on DVD, thanks to its video processor that optimizes the picture via 4K upscaling. This feature is a welcome improvement compared to the previous generation.

Compatible with HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats, the Sony UBP-X700/K promises an impressive visual experience, with a multitude of details in the dark and light areas of the same scene. Moreover, three-dimensional Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio tracks are also supported for a comprehensive, no-compromise home theater experience.
A Hi-Res certified Blu-ray player
Beyond its advanced home theater features, the Sony UBP-X700/K Blu-ray player is also aimed at discerning music lovers. It is certified Hi-Res Audio, and is compatible with SA-CD discs to play DSD streams. High resolution FLAC and WAV files can be played from a burned CD, or from a USB device plugged into the port on the front of the player.
Regarding connectors, this new UHD 4K Blu-ray player is equipped with two CEC compatible HDMI outputs to centralize control of your home theater system, the USB port previously mentioned, and a coaxial audio output.

Available for €299, the Sony UBP-X700/K Blu-ray player is a reliable, high-performance solution for those who want to continue enjoying their disc collection while benefiting from the latest audio-video developments.
