After shaking up the audio streaming market with its compact, high-performance and affordable players, WiiM took another step forward at Munich High End 2025 with the launch of its first connected speaker and the WiiM Amp Ultra amplifier. This all-in-one amp inherits the intuitive touchscreen interface of the WiiM Ultra streamer, while integrating a stereo amplification of 2 x 100 watts into 8 ohms. True to the brand’s DNA, it combines modern ergonomics, power and rich functionality, with the goal of making high-level hi-fi experiences more accessible.

Sleek design to serve functionality

With its brushed aluminum chassis and front panel dominated by a large touchscreen, the WiiM Amp Ultra recalls the aesthetic codes of the WiiM Ultra streamer. The 3.5″ display integrated into the front panel provides intuitive touch control, displaying album art, playback information and configuration settings. This interface modernizes the use of the amplifier, eliminating the need for a remote control for many functions. Of course, the remote control is still included to control the amp from a distance, as is the excellent WiiM Home mobile app.

The brushed aluminum chassis and integrated touchscreen give the WiiM Amp Ultra a modern look and ergonomics for smooth, intuitive use.

Ambitious audio architecture

Behind its minimalist appearance, the WiiM Amp Ultra hides sophisticated electronics. It features an ES9039Q2M DAC, identical to the WiiM Amp Pro, for playback of Hi-Res files up to 24-bit/192kHz. As for amplification, WiiM has used two Texas Instruments TPA3255 Class D chips capable of delivering up to 200 watts into 4 ohms or 100 watts into 8 ohms. These amplifiers offer remarkable energy efficiency while maintaining very low harmonic distortion. The whole system is orchestrated by a correction system called PFFB (Post Filter Feedback), which adjusts the amplifier’s behavior according to speaker load, guaranteeing stable, linear operation even with demanding speakers.

With a power output of 2 x 100W into 8 ohms and 2 x 200W into 4 ohms, the WiiM Amp Ultra is the ideal power source for many pairs of floorstanding or bookshelf speakers.

Uncompromising connectivity

The WiiM Amp Ultra inherits the American manufacturer’s network ecosystem, ensuring compatibility with all major protocols: Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Roon (certification pending), DLNA, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Google Cast and Alexa Cast. The WiiM Home ecosystem lets you manage multiple devices through a single interface, and synchronize playback throughout your home.

In terms of connectors, the WiiM Amp Ultra features an HDMI ARC input for retrieving sound from the TV. It supports the Dolby Audio format and can be combined with wireless surround speakers to create a 5.1-channel system. There’s also an RCA analog and optical digital input, plus a USB-A port for local playback of high-resolution files. A dedicated output for a subwoofer enhances the soundstage in the lows.

Thanks to its comprehensive connectivity, the WiiM Amp Ultra can be easily combined with a wide range of sources, including a TV, a preamplified turntable or a CD player.

Tailor-made sound reproduction with RoomFit calibration

To make the most of the listening space, the WiiM Amp Ultra features RoomFit technology, an acoustic calibration function comparable to Dirac or Audyssey in the world home theater. This feature analyzes the frequency response of the room using the microphone of the smartphone on which the WiiM app is used to automatically adjust equalization and compensate for resonance effects, stray reflections or level dips in certain frequency bands. The result is a more coherent soundstage, with better bass control and a more stable stereo image, even in acoustically difficult environments.

Like all the brand’s products, the WiiM Amp Ultra can be acoustically calibrated to adapt its reproduction to the characteristics of the room.

For more advanced users, WiiM also offers 10-band graphic and parametric equalizers. This makes it possible to fine-tune each frequency band, to correct an annoying peak in the upper mids, or to adapt the sound signature to personal preferences or the music genre. These functions can be accessed via the mobile app or touchscreen interface.

The first WiiM connected speaker

Alongside the Amp Ultra, WiiM has also lifted the veil on a brand new product: its very first connected speaker. Temporarily named WiiM Sound, this speaker adopts five drivers: two tweeters, two midbass drivers and a downward-firing center woofer. It uses advanced digital processing to create a surprisingly wide and coherent stereo soundstage, despite its compact size.

One of the most striking features is the touchscreen, which not only controls playback and volume, but also lets you navigate the speaker’s menus and quickly access settings. Connected to the WiiM Home ecosystem, this speaker can be used on its own or with other WiiM devices in a multi-room system. It is compatible with AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Amazon Music. It can also be used as a surround sound speaker system with an Amp Ultra, offering the promise of wireless 5.1 sound entirely controlled via a single app.

By unveiling the WiiM Amp Ultra and its very first wireless speaker at Munich, WiiM is demonstrating a clear vision: to make modern hi-fi more intuitive, more connected, without sacrificing quality. But beyond stereo, WiiM also lays the foundations for a wireless home theater ecosystem, controllable from a single app, and capable of combining an amp, speakers and a subwoofer in a streamlined multi-channel configuration. With an all-in-one touchscreen amplifier that’s ready to compete with much more expensive models, and a network speaker designed to be used by itself or in a surround system, the brand has taken a strategic step forward. WiiM is redefining the standards of connected hi-fi and home theater, with a focus on both audiophiles and the general public.
