The Porta Pro are undoubtedly Koss’ most iconic headphones. To celebrate their 40th birthday, the brand has released a completely wireless version: the Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0. Priced at €99, will this new version have the same longevity as the wired version?

Included accessories
The Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 headphones come with their own hard carrying case, a rare accessory at this price. The accessories also include a USB-C to USB-A charging cable (20cm), as well as a 3.5mm mini-jack to USB-C audio cable (1.2m). A quick-start guide and safety instructions are also included in the box.

Presentation
Audio design
The Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 Bluetooth headphones feature the 40mm dynamic transducers for which the classic Porta Pro model is renowned. It is one of the few Bluetooth models to feature a semi-open acoustic structure for improved sound spatialization. Like the original wired model, these headphones have optimized diaphragms to provide an extended frequency response from 15Hz to 25kHz. All the components are designed to minimize distortion and maximize clarity.

Bluetooth and wired connectivity
The Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 headphones adopt Bluetooth 5.2 technology, guaranteeing a stable connection over a range of around 10 meters. They are therefore compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets and computers. Unfortunately, they don’t support any HD codecs, and don’t feature Multipoint or quick pairing. We also recommend only using them for listening to music, as we noticed some latency between the sound and the image when watching a video.
In total, these headphones promise up to 20 hours of continuous playback. This is a comfortable battery life, but a far cry from the 100 hours of listening time provided by the latest Bluetooth models, such as the Marshall Major V we recently tested.

Although designed for wireless use, these headphones also offer an alternative wired connection. The included cable enables them to be connected to any source with a 3.5mm mini-jack port. This means they can be used in passive mode when the battery is flat, or with non-Bluetooth-compatible sources. On the downside, the Bluetooth connection is deactivated when the charging cable is plugged in. As a result, you have to choose between charging the headphones or continuing to listen to music with this USB-to-mini-jack cable.
Iconic design and ease of use
The Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 wireless headphones have kept the vintage design of the original model with its supra-aural structure. This design means that the foam-covered earcups sit directly on the ears. Its adjustable metal headband features foam pads at the temples and the renowned Comfort Zone system to optimize the pressure exerted by the headphones. The latter operates via a push-button on either side of the headband. You can choose between a firm, medium or light fit.
Combined with a featherweight of 60 grams – making them one of the lightest pairs of headphones to date – these features guarantee a good fit while preserving comfort over long listening sessions. Conveniently, these headphones are foldable and very compact to fit into their dedicated case (just under 11cm in diameter).
Designed for everyday use, the Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 headphones integrate physical controls, making it easy to manage volume, music playback and calls. Their built-in microphone allows you to make phone calls and benefit from quick access to voice assistants like Google Assistant or Siri.

Listening impressions
The Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 headphones offered a pleasant listening experience, with a rather warm sound. On Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love, the bass was punchy but not incredibly deep. The singer’s voice was brought to the fore with clarity, reinforcing the sensation of presence and closeness. Thanks to their semi-open design, the soundstage was naturally wide, providing plenty of space for the instruments and vocals. Note that this feature allows you to hear your surroundings, which can be an advantage if you want to remain aware of what’s going on around you. But to take full advantage of their qualities, we recommend using the headphones in a quiet environment.

On Jakubi’s Couch Potato, the Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 delivered a warm, enveloping sound, with generous, well-defined bass. There was a slight accentuation in the mids and highs, making vocals and instruments a little brighter without ever becoming harsh. The high frequencies remained soft and pleasant, with no fatigue during long listening sessions. These wireless Porta Pro headphones therefore remain true to Koss’s legendary sonic identity.
Your impressions
These semi-open headphones offer pleasant spatialization, but poor isolation (avoid noisy environments). The microphone is decent, the battery life reaches 20h, and the price (<€100) is unbeatable for this quality. Who are they for? Those who prefer lightness, a natural sound and a discreet design. They offer good value for money, despite technical limitations (semi-open, no aptX).

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 5/5
It’s impressive how two small transducers can produce such rich sound, with amazing depth – even if the total absence of active noise cancelling is noticeable. This model takes me back to my high school days… A real return to my roots! Whether you like Koss or not, you’ve got to applaud the portability and versatility of these headphones, which remain their greatest assets.

Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 compared to Marshall Major V
Compared with the Marshall Major V, the Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 stands out for its semi-open design, offering a wider soundstage and more space for instruments to express themselves. Where the Major V relies on more effective passive isolation and deeper bass, the Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 favors a more natural, balanced soundstage, with rounded but less intrusive bass. In terms of comfort, the Porta Pro Wireless 2.0, with its lightweight design and adjustable earpads, is more comfortable over longer sessions, while its (very) compact size makes it easier to carry. Both models adopt a distinct vintage style, so the design you prefer will depend on your personal preferences.
Who are these Bluetooth headphones designed for?
The Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 headphones are for aficionados of the Koss Porta Pro sound and those who love retro design. Thanks to their semi-open structure, they offer a wide soundstage. Their compact, foldable format, featherweight of 60g and Comfort Zone system make them an ideal choice for extended use. These ultra-light headphones will appeal above all to those nostalgic for the original Porta Pro looking to rediscover its legendary sonic identity in a modernized, wireless version.
Our verdict
The Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0 succeed in modernizing a classic while preserving the sonic DNA that made the original such a success. Their warm sound, spacious soundstage and comfort make them an excellent choice for long listening sessions. Although they don’t incorporate the latest Bluetooth advances and would benefit from a longer battery life, they remain an attractive option for vintage enthusiasts looking for a practical, compact and wireless alternative.
