Qobuz takes a decisive step forward with the official launch of Qobuz Connect, a long-awaited feature. It now enables music playback to be controlled on all compatible devices connected to the local network, directly from the Qobuz mobile app. Following the example of Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect, Qobuz aims to integrate its service into more connected devices.

A major update: Qobuz 9.0

The roll-out of Qobuz Connect is accompanied by a major update of the mobile app, which is now in version 9.0. This new milestone marks a major technical turning point. Once the update is complete, the user is automatically disconnected and invited to log back in. From then on, a whole new operating method is set in motion: the app becomes a universal remote control for all Qobuz Connect-compatible devices on the local network.

This update also introduces an in-depth overhaul of the playback engine, designed to offer greater stability, improved responsiveness and smoother synchronization between devices. An essential step forward to guarantee a seamless user experience, worthy of the audiophile standards Qobuz has championed since its inception.

Thanks to Qobuz Connect, Hi-Res music can be played on compatible devices directly from the Qobuz app.

Qobuz Connect: asmooth listeningphilosophy

With Qobuz Connect, the French service is catching up to its direct competitors, who already offer a “connect”-type protocol, notably Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect. Qobuz Connect lets you stream FLAC files at up to 24-bit/192kHz to compatible equipment, without compression, downsampling or conversion. In other words, Hi-Res Audio quality remains fully preserved, even when controlling playback from a smartphone, tablet or computer.

Qobuz Connect also enables the French platform to capitalize on a streamlined, intuitive user experience. No more juggling different apps or manipulating multiple remote controls. Simply open the Qobuz app, select a compatible device on the network, and take control of playback in a matter of seconds.

Best of all, the transition between devices is totally seamless. Imagine listening to a playlist on the subway with your earbuds, returning home, opening the Qobuz app and transferring the playback to your hi-fi system without interruption, and without even having to restart the track. Thanks to intelligent synchronization of playback history, the music picks up exactly where it left off.

With Qobuz Connect, you can move seamlessly from one piece of equipment to another without any interruption.

Which brands are compatible with Qobuz Connect?

Officially launched in May 2025, Qobuz Connect is already supported by many of the most influential brands in the hi-fi sector. Thanks to this new protocol, the streaming service is now compatible with a wider range of equipment, including long-awaited Denon and Marantz devices. All the major players in the sector are now supported, with over 57 brands(see the official Qobuz Connect list) including EverSolo, WiiM, Volumio, KEF, Devialet, Naim Audio and more.

Thanks to Qobuz Connect, Marantz and Denon amplifiers with Heos are finally compatible with this Hi-Res streaming service.

With this upgrade, Qobuz completes its technical arsenal and reinforces its legitimacy as a benchmark audiophile platform. After having pioneered the adoption of Hi-Res Audio and the promotion of editorial content (press, digital booklets, etc.), the French service is finally modernizing its distribution architecture. The aim is clear: to enable users to enjoy their music in the best possible conditions, whatever device they use, without having to resort to complex solutions or juggle multiple apps.
