I’m not going to do another review, as the various specialists are unanimous (les numériques, tech radars, What hi-fi?…) The image is simply superb. It’s extremely bright and has high contrast. Magnificent build quality and design. Splendid sound that deserves to be reinforced given the picture quality, with a soundbar or a home theater system. Easy to use thanks to webOS.

I confess, I was lucky enough to come across a second-hand set, barely unpacked and not even broken in. After about fifteen hours, the speakers are starting to blossom, particularly in terms of their incredible bass. I previously had a pair of Triangle Borea 08s, which weren’t so bad, but they were too clear, too clinical. Here, it’s the opposite: round, a little less precise perhaps, but so much warmer. I think that in this price range, floorstanding speakers will always be a compromise between hi-fi and home theater. However, as I’m not interested in home theater, the XLS 15s are clearly more to my liking, especially with my Advance Paris A10 amp. They also look great!

After 40 years of full satisfaction and emotion with an HD 540 Reference that finally gave up the ghost (intense use as a painter: around 60h per week), I was hesitating whether to go for the HD 600 or 650, hoping to rediscover what I loved with the 540. After reading many tests, I opted for the HD 600, which seemed to be the closest to the sound signature of my old headphones. I was “anxious” when first trying them, but I quickly relaxed as I rediscovered the pleasant listening experience and an obvious kinship with the 540. These are headphones that you soon forget you’re wearing to immerse yourself in the music; there are headphones out there with more detail and a wider soundstage, but often to the detriment of musical cohesion and the pleasure that derives from it. They excel in acoustic music, jazz, classical and vocals, respecting the beautiful timbres.

It has the Heritage look, but that’s not all… The quality of the product and build is top-notch. When you opt for Klipsch, you want power, generosity, a certain sound signature (not neutral), and a product that stands out from the competition. That’s exactly what you get with this speaker, which has the ability to blend seamlessly into any environment, notably by reproducing the sound of a television… Or to take up the whole room with music played at high volume. The manual controls are clear and precise, and the connectivity is adapted to the product’s use. The Bluetooth connection is stable and interference-free.

An affordable, upgradeable turntable for high quality vinyl listening sessions. Can be connected to line or phono inputs. Easy adjustments. With an already efficient cartridge MM, it can be upgraded with a Shibata stylus (my choice) or an easily replaceable Micro Linear model. This is Audio-Technica’s major advantage: easy, gradual upgrading based on a good starting point and parts available for a long time. In short, a very good choice for starting out with already excellent sound.

This device can be perfectly integrates with a Cambridge amplifier, which it can switch on and adjust the volume via the dedicated app. The sound is infinitely more precise than what I had before, even though it was a good piece of equipment. It’s nice to see the record sleeves displayed in good definition on the control screen. The only small reservation concerns the app, which does not feature Qobuz in its entirety, even if the integration is superior to many other products.

I listen mainly to classical music of the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Mahler, Shostakovich, Britten and opera. The Concept 20s are very detailed and fit perfectly with my CD player and Linn amps. However, they lack deep bass. This Q Acoustics 3060S subwoofer adds subtle but distinctive bass, giving weight to large orchestral pieces. I set the crossover to 120Hz and the level to just over half. If you’re looking for powerful bass, look elsewhere, but if you want to improve the bass definition of smaller bookshelf speakers, this is an excellent choice. The sound is spectacular in every way, and the 3060S adds just the right amount of bass without going overboard. I highly recommend it.

Initially interested in lightning protection for my home theater system, Clément (whom I’d like to thank for his excellent advice and patience!) steered me towards a mains conditioner. I’ve since upgraded my home theater system’s connectivity and I’m fully satisfied: I’ve added a PLC (Netgear PLP2000), an ethernet connection, an HDMI cable (audioquest pearl 48) and a TV power cable (audioquest NRG X2). This has considerably improved image definition and sharpness, brightness, sound spatialization and sound power. In more detail, I find that the conditioner has particularly improved picture quality, which has been further enhanced by deactivating the wifi. Details are finer, upscaling seems more precise and HDR brightness is much improved. It’s also worth noting that the sound volume is more powerful, which caused me to lower my usual volume by around 2 levels. Another impressive result is the improvement in SVOD streaming quality.
