Sony is expanding its home theater catalog with the launch of the Sony Bravia Projector 7 (VPL-XW5100ES), a native 4K model that boasts advanced image processing, optimized fluidity and extended compatibility with HDR content and video games. Positioned between the VPL-XW5000ES and Projector 8, it is aimed at enthusiasts looking for a high-performance, versatile projector.

Sony Bravia Projector family

This new release comes as Sony announces that the distribution of its 4K projectors will be resumed in Europe following a hiatus of several months due to regulations. Excellent news for home theater enthusiasts, who can once again access the brand’s latest models, including the new Bravia Projector 7.

Advanced image processing with the XR processor

The heart of the Bravia Projector 7 is the XR processor, already tried and tested on the brand’s TVs, which activates four new technologies. XR Dynamic Tone Mapping dynamically adjusts the image, pixel by pixel, to optimize light peaks and improve gradation in bright areas. XR Deep Black enhances low-light detail for deeper blacks. Thanks to XR Triluminos Pro, the projector covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color space without the need for a filter, preserving brightness. Finally, XR Clear Image refines image sharpness and accentuates texture.

The Bravia Projector 7 also benefits from Motionflow, an image interpolation technology that enhances fluidity, even at 24Hz. This feature optimizes visual comfort, particularly for cinematic content.

Cinemascope compatibility made easy

Sony also introduces a new function called Aspect Ratio Scaling. It enables users with Cinemascope format screens (2.35:1) to switch easily to 16:9 format, digitally, without manually adjusting the lens. This feature compensates for the absence of a motorized lens shift and greatly simplifies adaptation to different content.

Performance made for video games

The Sony Bravia Projector 7 also performs well for gaming, thanks to 4K-compatible HDMI 2.1 inputs at 120 frames per second, with latency reduced to 12 ms and support for ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). These features make it perfectly suited to the latest-generation consoles and discerning gamers.

Greater ease of use

Sony has integrated several practical improvements into the projector menu. Keystone correction, usually absent on high-end models, makes its appearance on this model. HDR gamma management is now manually adjustable, as is SDR.

The Sony Bravia Projector 7’s position in the range

With a launch price of €6,999 incl. VAT, the Bravia Projector 7 sits between the Sony VPL-XW5000ES, which remains in the catalog as the most affordable 4K native laser projector on the market, and the Sony Bravia Projector 8. This makes it attractive to home theater enthusiasts looking for superior image quality without the price tag of ultra high-end models. The Bravia Projector 7 will be available in black and white from mid-August 2025.

Summary

The Bravia Projector 7 marks a significant evolution in Sony’s native 4K projector catalog. Thanks to its new XR processor, advanced image technologies, gaming compatibility and practical features, it combines performance and versatility. It is clearly aimed at discerning users who want to optimize their home theater experience without the ultra high-end price tag.
