Two years after the success of the SP3, the brand’s first active speakers, FiiO is adding to its range with the SP5 models. On the program: more power to drive a 5″ driver, extended connectivity including an XLR input, and more comprehensive customization options.

FiiO SP5, a new 5″ driver
The FiiO SP5 active speakers build on the success of the SP3s released in 2023. While the chassis retains its aluminum structure and minimalist, elegant design, this new generation marks several improvements.
The most notable is the integration of a new Rohacell cone driver. The latter guarantees excellent responsiveness, very low distortion and a more precise sound reproduction, particularly in the bass and midrange. This high-end choice underlines the Chinese manufacturer’s determination to rival leading brands by offering irreproachable acoustic performance.

What’s more, this driver is now 5 inches in diameter, which is 1.5 inches larger than the one used in the SP3. Logically, this larger format is accompanied by a reinforced amplification system. The FiiO SP5 active speakers benefit from bi-amplification delivering 80 watts per speaker: 60 watts for the midrange/bass and 20 for the tweeter.
Extensive connectivity and dual tone control
The FiiO SP5 speakers also feature an XLR input. This balanced connection reduces noise and promises more stable signal transmission. This new feature will delight music lovers who were disappointed by the absence of such a connector on the SP3 speakers, enabling them to connect a FiiO R7 or FiiO R9 network player. That’s why the SP5 active speakers are now the ideal hi-fi solution for the office. Indeed, the Asian manufacturer is seeking to appeal to audiophiles looking for a compact, high-performance solution for close-up listening sessions.
This new iteration of the FiiO SP range also offers even more customization options. The SP5 speakers use the 10-band equalizer of the SP3 available on the app, while adding tone controls. These are dedicated to adjusting high frequencies and bass on 3 levels.

FiiO SP5: Bluetooth aptX Adaptive
Designed for the office or bedroom, the FiiO SP5 active speakers also feature a Bluetooth 5.1 module. It supports standard SBC and AAC codecs, as well as the high-resolution LDAC and aptX Adaptive.
In addition to this wireless connectivity, the SP5s retain the RCA and 3.5mm mini-jack inputs of the SP3s. However, a USB-C input makes its appearance, offering more options for digital listening. Finally, a trigger input is also included to simplify powering up the audio system using the infrared remote control supplied with the FiiO SP5 speakers.
