The partnership between LEGO and Nintendo continues with a new model aimed directly at 1990s nostalgics: a brick reproduction of Nintendo’s legendary Game Boy console. Expected to arrive on October 1st, 2025 and already available to pre-order, this set targets retrogaming enthusiasts, collectors and construction buffs.
LEGO Game Boy: 421 pieces of nostalgia
The LEGO Game Boy set includes 421 pieces and offers a faithful 1:1 scale reproduction of the famous handheld console. All the characteristic visual elements are present: directional cross, A and B buttons, Start and Select keys, front driver, volume dial and cartridge slot on the back. The cartridges, which also need to be built, represent two classics: The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land. A system of lenticular screens simulates the console’s home screen or gameplay excerpts, provided in this set. LEGO has also provided a display stand for the console, as well as a base for the cartridge that isn’t inserted, reinforcing the decorative aspect of the set.
This attention to detail is reflected in the technical choices made: certain elements, such as the “Nintendo Game Boy” lettering, are printed directly onto the bricks, without the use of stickers. The set is purely static, with no lighting or electronic functions, but lends itself to interaction through its construction and moving parts.
