The HEOS platform reaches a new milestone with the latest update released on July 16, 2025. This version considerably enriches the user experience with much-anticipated features, including direct access to Qobuz, SiriusXM search, an immersive demo mode and enhancements for TuneIn. Here’s an overview of this major evolution for Denon and Marantz connected equipment.

HEOS: more than just a multi-room protocol

Released by Denon, HEOS (Home Entertainment Operating System) technology has established itself as a centralized multi-room and streaming solution in the hi-fi and home theater ecosystems of the Masimo group, parent company of Denon, Marantz and Polk Audio. With native integration of services such as Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music and TuneIn, HEOS enables remote control of all compatible connected devices from an intuitive mobile app. AV receivers, wireless speakers, soundbars, network players and connected amplifiers: everything can be synchronized, controlled and shared via a single environment.

But like all software platforms, HEOS evolves. And since spring 2025, updates have followed one another at a steady pace. After the integration of Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready compatibility for Denon and Marantz AV receivers, update 37 continues this momentum with concrete contributions for the end user.

Qobuz natively integrated into the HEOS app

It’s been a recurring request from users: direct Qobuz playback from the HEOS app is now possible. Until now, this has been possible via Bluetooth, AirPlay and, more recently, Qobuz Connect, which was introduced last May. With update 37, the French high-resolution streaming platform joins the HEOS interface alongside Spotify, Amazon Music and Tidal.

In concrete terms, this means that users can browse their Qobuz account directly from the HEOS app, accessing their playlists, favorite albums, personalized recommendations and editorial categories. Playback is bit-perfect on all HEOS-compatible devices, whether a single speaker or a complete multi-room setup. To add Qobuz, simply go to the “Music Services” section of the app, then use the contextual menu to add a new service.

In addition to Qobuz Connect, Marantz and Denon connected devices now benefit from direct access to Qobuz, which is now part of the Heos ecosystem.

SiriusXM search: simplified access to satellite radio

Another notable addition in Update 37 is the advanced search for SiriusXM content. The satellite radio service, very popular in North America, can now be explored directly from the HEOS app’s Search tab. Simply type in the name of a channel, artist or music genre, then filter results by service by selecting SiriusXM from the drop-down menu.

The aim of this improvement is to make access to SiriusXM content smoother, as the vast range on offer can sometimes be difficult to explore without a powerful sorting tool. The integrated search not only saves time, but also makes discovering new channels and programs a breeze.

TuneIn redesigned: better controls, better management

Long perceived as a simple access to web radios, TuneIn becomes more ergonomic and intelligent in this update. The playback interface has been redesigned for podcasts, with new controls for skip forward 30 seconds or back 15 seconds. A scroll bar also lets you navigate freely through the current program.

Another important enhancement: when a station is added to favorites in HEOS, the system now remembers the bit rate used at the time of recording. For example, if the user starts listening to a radio station at 128 kbps, then switches to 160 kbps before adding the station to favorites, this higher quality version will be recalled later. This automatically optimizes listening quality for Internet radios, which are often available in several streams.

The TuneIn page in the HEOS app now displays favorite stations more clearly, offering quick access to favorite content without complex navigation.

TuneIn is now even more user-friendly in HEOS, with simplified navigation, improved podcast control and memorized audio quality for optimal listening.

A demo mode to entice potential users

One of the most visible new features of version 37 is the arrival of a demo mode in the HEOS app. This is a strategic advance for the brand, which intends to make it easier to discover its interface and functionalities, even without a HEOS device connected to the network. This mode simulates the full HEOS experience: menu navigation, creation of multi-room groups, music selection and playback control are made possible via a Wi-Fi or data connection, without the need to create or connect an account.

This is particularly useful in a store, for installers or simply for curious users wishing to discover the HEOS world before making a purchase. The app adopts a fictitious configuration, with welcome content adapted to the user’s region. It’s also possible to use your own HEOS account, even in demo mode, to test music services or multi-room management with your own listening habits. Demo mode can be activated from the app settings, in the Help section.

Heos now offers a demo mode for testing the app, its various functions and the creation of multi-room groups, without even needing Marantz or Denon equipment.

A two-stage update

As is often the case with HEOS upgrades, Update 37 is divided into two parts. The new features for TuneIn, SiriusXM and the demo mode are part of the mobile app itself. In other words, all you need to do is update the HEOS app on iOS or Android to benefit immediately.

On the other hand, native Qobuz integration requires a firmware update for compatible devices. This is rolled out in successive waves to HEOS-compatible amplifiers, network players and speakers. The process can take up to two weeks to reach all users worldwide.
