Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H95 Bluetooth headphones

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H95 wireless headphones on books
  • Closed-back headphones
  • 40mm titanium transducers with neodymium magnets
  • ANC
  • Bluetooth aptX Adaptive
  • Up to 50h of autonomy
  • Frequency response: 20Hz to 22kHz
  • Fabric-covered headband and leather pads

I took a long time to decide between the B&W PX8, the Focal Bathys and the B&O H95. I had the opportunity to listen to the first one with my laptop: it wasn’t great, and yet I have B&W 802 D3 speakers… I saw the Bathys. Very good sound, but not discreet. So I skipped it. Finally I had the opportunity to listen to the H95… It was a total blast. B&O aesthetics, very fine craftmanship and, above all, a listening experience that lived up to my expectations. It’s a very relaxing studio sound, the ANC works very well and the connection to the laptop is top-notch. In a word, ecstasy. A safe purchase.

TCL 75C855 (75C89B) QLED TV

A man in his living room with a drink in his hand is standing in front of his TCL QLED TV.
  • Image size (inch/cm): 75 / 190.5
  • 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160p)
  • 144Hz 4K VRR gaming
  • Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+
  • 2.1.2-channel sound (60 watts), Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual-X
  • 4 x HDMI 2.1
  • Google TV, Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Prime Video

After several weeks of reflection, I bought this TCL 75-inch screen. First of all, thanks to the Son-Vidéo team for their answers, as I was a bit afraid to get a TV of this size delivered. A big thank you to the driver for helping me carry the TV into my home. Once installed, it’s a blast. I rediscovered my favorite films. My only complaint is that the instructions for installing the stand are not very intuitive. Otherwise, nothing to report, go for it, you won’t be disappointed.

Samsung HW-Q935D wireless home theater

Samsung HW-Q935D wireless home theater system with a Samsung OLED TV.
  • 9.1.4-channel soundbar
  • Wireless subwoofer and rear speakers
  • 17 drivers
  • Wireless Dolby Atmos – DTS:X
  • Q Symphony: synchronized TV and soundbar sound
  • WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, HDMI, AirPlay 2, Chromecast

For aesthetic reasons, I had to remove my AV receiver, subwoofers, speakers and, above all, my home theater cables from the living room. I therefore expected a flatter result and less immersive sound. In the end, the power is there, the immersive sound ambiance is very good, as is the channel separation, and I’m pleasantly surprised by the result as well as the ease of installation!

Elipson A2700 power amplifier

Close-up of the Elipson A2700 silver power amp
  • Metal chassis
  • Class D amplification
  • Stereo mode power: 400W RMS (8 ohms) and 710W RMS (4 ohms)
  • Mono power: 1400W RMS (8 ohms)
  • Signal-to-noise ratio: 119 dB
  • XLR balanced audio inputs + RCA unbalanced audio inputs
  • Trigger input + output

I’d read a number of generally positive reviews of this amp, and I’d also come across a YouTube test in which the reviewers were equally enthusiastic, calling it the best class-D amp they’d heard. Looking for a powerful amp capable of getting the most out of my B&Ws, I took advantage of the sales to buy this Elipson amp, despite the price and the brand’s limited reputation in this type of product. Well, I’m not disappointed, in fact I’m impressed by the power and musicality of this amp. It surpasses all the amps I’ve ever owned, including references like the Rega Elicit-R, the Atoll IN300, the 3D Lab Nano signature… This amp is extremely neutral and transparent, the soundstage is wide and precise, and the bass is superbly controlled. You hear everything, it’s detailed without ever being harsh. It’s everything you’d expect from a top-of-the-range amplifier. It never falters and can get the best out of even the most difficult speakers. The only downside is the rather austere design, which looks more like a pro studio machine.

Cabasse MC40 Java floorstanding speakers

Pair of Cabasse floorstanding speakers in a living room with a built-in TV
  • 3-way, bass-reflex
  • 1 x Cabasse BC10 coaxial driver
  • 2 x 6.7″ woofers (Cabasse 17MD18LB1) with Duocell cone
  • Rated power: 110W (770W peak)
  • Frequency response: 59Hz – 23kHz
  • Impedance: 8 ohms
  • Dimensions (WxHxD): 250 x 1100 x 350mm

I bought these Java to replace my Minorca MC40. First of all, the Minorca already produced a high-quality sound, but now the Cabasse MC40 Java (connected to my Denon PMA-2500NE) are really magnificent. I get the impression that the Javas go much higher in the high frequencies, are fuller and don’t forget about the midrange. They’re a perfect match for my amp, a treat for all music lovers!

Optoma Photon Go ultra short throw projector

The Optoma Photon Go projector projecting a soccer match in living room
  • Ultra-short throw
  • Projection distance: 10cm @ 60″ ~ 25cm @ 100″.
  • Triple RGB laser technology
  • Full HD 1080p resolution
  • Google TV and Google Assistant
  • Brightness: ISO 650 / HK 1,200
  • Contrast ratio: 2,500,000:1
  • Battery with 1h30 autonomy

I was looking for an ultra-short-throw projector at a reasonable price, and this was the only one that met my criteria. It’s really surprising, the image is great even on a wall that isn’t perfect. My set-up is a bit unusual in that I’m projecting onto an old fireplace, so I have less light pollution, which means that even with some light, the image is still great. I should point out that I used to have a rather mediocre, inexpensive projector, so the change is really very good for me. For stationary use, I’ve deactivated the automatic image correction, otherwise every time I start it up, the settings are wrong.

Onkyo TX-RZ50 AVR

Onkyo TX-RZ50 AV receiver, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatible
  • 9.2 / 5.2.4 / 7.2.2 channels
  • 120 fps and 8K 60 fps UHD 4K
  • Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Vision, HDR10+
  • THX Select and IMAX Enhanced certified
  • Gaming features: VRR, ALLM, QFT
  • Streaming, AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Bluetooth
  • Compatible with Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant

An excellent product. I’m coming from a 2017 Onkyo TX-RZ810, and the quality of the RZs is still there. Power, video quality, ease of handling. The Dirac live calibration is top notch. Used with Jamo D500 speakers and an XTZ 12.17 subwoofer in a dedicated 20m² room, it’s perfect.

SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofer

3/4 view of the SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofer
  • Active subwoofer
  • Sealed enclosure
  • 12″ driver
  • 325W RMS amplification power (820W peak)
  • Frequency response: 20Hz to 270Hz +/- 3 dB
  • Dimensions (wxhxd): 342 x 330 x 375mm (including grille)
  • Weight: 11.9kg

Hello, I use it exclusively in hi-fi, with a Heed Elixir amp and Fyne Audio F500 speakers. This sub replaces a B&W ASW610, which I already found very good. The SVS surpasses it in almost every way. Once properly adjusted, the bass is deep and well-defined. Infrabass isn’t intrusive, but perfectly delineated. The 20Hz are not a figment of the imagination. They’re there, and you feel them. To me, the price/sound quality ratio is great, and even though this is the brand’s entry-level product, it sets the bar very high.
