JMGO N1S Infinity 4K projector

JMGO N1S Infinity 4K in a living room
  • 4K UHD
  • DLP display
  • Light source: Triple Laser
  • Brightness of 2,450 ISO lumens
  • HDR10+
  • Google TV
  • Image from 40 to 180 inches (102 to 450cm across)
  • Dimensions (WxHxD): 241 x 203 x 236mm

I bought this projector after seeing some videos on YouTube. As I also wanted a professional opinion, I went to the Lille store, where I received excellent advice. The projector is easy to use. Installation is super simple, and it calibrates itself practically on its own. If you’re used to the Android environment, you won’t feel lost. The only downside is the image settings in standard mode, which you can modify, but I couldn’t find any information on the net about how to adjust the device properly. But I must admit that the basic settings are already top-notch. I highly recommend this product, as well as Son-Vidéo.com.

Meze Liric hi-fi headphones (2nd generation)

Meze Liric 2nd gen hi-fi headphones on a headphone stand
  • Closed-back over-ear headphones
  • 92 x 63mm isodynamic transducers
  • Frequency response: 4Hz to 92kHz
  • Impedance: 61 ohms
  • Sensitivity: 100 dB for 1mW
  • Macassar ebony earcups
  • Weight: 427g

Having owned the first Liric for about 3 years, I wanted to see if there was any improvement in this wooden version. The answer is YES! Compared to their predecessor, these headphones offer a warmer tone. The sound is more balanced and expansive. Along with the first generation, these are the most “open” closed-back headphones I own. As a bonus, I feel like the passive isolation is better than on the 1. In the middle of a street with cars, ambient noise is perfectly reduced, even at low volume levels. Finally, I noticed that the 2 is harder to drive than the 1. It’s a good idea to have a decent amp or a DAP.

LG OLED77C5 TV

LG C5 OLED TV in a living room, wall-mounted with soundbar
  • 77-inch (195cm) OLED TV
  • 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels)
  • HDR, Dolby Vision and Atmos
  • Native frequency of 120Hz and VRR frequency up to 144Hz
  • Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync compatible
  • 4 x HDMI 2.1 ports

I had the LG OLED77C1, which at the time looked very good on paper. Given the July sale price, I decided to treat myself to the C5 in the same size. I’m delighted with my purchase, as the “little” flaws I criticized in the C1 have been corrected. Firstly, upscaling is even better and more precise on certain sources. The big highlight is clearly the brightness of the evo panel, which is a real technical breakthrough. In HDR, it’s simply perfect. The other modes are just as impressive: Filmmaker, Dolby Vision, etc. In terms of perceived quality, it’s also a step up, as it looks more premium than the C1. Gaming-wise, the C1 was top-notch, but it’s even better with the C5. This LG OLED77C5 takes another technical leap forward in the “C” range. Considering the price, it’s brilliant.

Klipsch Cornwall IV floorstanding speakers

Pair of Klipsch Cornwall IV floorstanding speakers
  • 3-way speakers
  • 100W rated power, 400W peak power
  • Bass-reflex enclosure
  • Tweeter with 1″ titanium diaphragm, 1.75″ midrange driver and 15″ composite fiber cone woofer
  • Frequency response from 34Hz to 20kHz
  • Sensitivity: 102 dB
  • Dimensions (WxHxD): 643 x 965 x 394mm

These speakers are exceptional after a long running-in period. Don’t hesitate to pair them with a powerful amplifier. To finish breaking them in, you’ll need to send a lot of power. And then the sound is ideal. Apart from the Focal Grande Utopia, I’ve never heard anything better despite having listened to many high-end models. The quality of the recordings is paramount, the sound is so precise that a bad mix will be disastrous. The sound is incredibly realistic with all styles of music. The only fault I can find with them is space. You need a large living room.

Jean-Marie Reynaud Lucia MKII bookshelf speakers

JMR Lucia MKII bookshelf speaker on stool
  • 2-way design
  • 1″ tweeter and 5″ midbass driver
  • Recommended amplification: 20 to 100W
  • Frequency response: 60Hz to 20kHz
  • Sensitivity: 86 dB
  • Bass-reflex with laminar port
  • Dimensions (WxHxD): 180 x 370 x 230mm
  • Weight (per speaker): 7.5kg

JMR is one of those little-known brands, and I fell in love with the sound (compared to Cabasse). Because I wanted to save space, I decided to switch to the Lucia, a small model perfect for a 20m² living room. The sound is as responsive as you could wish for, and I hardly dare listen to them at too high a volume, but the sound is truly musical and lively: all the superlatives you’d expect from JMR speakers can be found in this model. The price is affordable for those wishing to enter the world of hi-fi, and they can be combined with amplifiers worth 2 or 3 times their price, so you can upgrade your system later. Mine are powered by a Marantz PM6006 amp and connected to a CD player from the same brand, a Pro-Ject DEBUT Carbon Evo turntable with Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge under an aluminum and Acryl-it platter, and a Phono Box S2 preamp. I recommend it 100%!

KEF LC 62 subwoofer

KEF KC62 subwoofer
  • Sealed enclosure
  • 2 x 500W amplification
  • 2 x 6.5″ Uni-Core drivers
  • Frequency response: 11Hz to 200Hz
  • Noise level: 105 dB
  • Cut-off frequency: 40Hz to 140Hz
  • Dimensions (WxHxD): 256 x 246 x 248mm

With the KC62, the soundstage widens, gaining in depth and your LS50s in precision. The subwoofer offers a wide range of settings (tip: ask your dealer!). The wireless transmitter is a little tricky to install, but once in place the connection is almost immediate and stable. With the KC62, the LS50s are literally freed from bass constraints (settings in KEF Connect): voices come through naturally, each instrument finds its place, and precision is fully expressed. The bass is deep, precise and perfectly maintained despite its compact size. Whether you’re listening to acoustic music or film soundtracks, it gives the speakers the edge without ever overpowering them… unless you turn up the volume.

Shanling M3 Plus DAP

Shanling M3 Plus DAP
  • 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512
  • Quad DAC
  • 14h battery life
  • Android with WiFi
  • Bi-directional Bluetooth (LDAC)
  • Unbalanced 3.5mm mini-jack and balanced 4.4mm jack headphone outputs
  • Dimensions (WxHxD): 70.5 x 115 x 18mm
  • Weight: 205g

The Shanling M3 Plus is an excellent portable player. I only use it with the 4.4mm balanced output and Meze 99 Classic headphones with a 4.4mm Premium Copper Silver cable. The sound is magnificent and warm. I never thought I’d get this kind of reproduction quality. Thank you Son-Vidéo! I highly recommend it.
