This year’s Paris Audio Video Show hosted a particularly immersive installation by BenQ and integrator MyCiné. Called ORION ONE, it was a movie theater inspired by the aesthetics of the most iconic spaceships of the big screen. This unique concept, combining tech and set design, was imagined to offer visitors a spectacular projection experience, in an unprecedented setting. What did this one-of-a-kind theater have in store?

ORION ONE: a futuristic cinema
The ORION ONE stands out first and foremost for its design. The interior architecture directly evokes the world of science fiction, with angular shapes, high-tech materials and a controlled lighting ambience. This aesthetic approach immersed visitors from the moment they entered the room, even before the screening began.
The experience featured a ten-minute demo, during which a selection of film excerpts was projected. These scenes were chosen to highlight the technical capabilities of the installed equipment, both visually and acoustically. The goal was clear: to let the public experience the power of a top-of-the-range home theater system in ideal conditions.

BenQ W5800: cinema projection in 4K HDR
At the heart of the ORION ONE installation was the BenQ W5800, a state-of-the-art 4K UHD projector, factory-calibrated for optimum precision. It uses a laser light source and boasts a brightness of 2,600 lumens, guaranteeing excellent image legibility, even in dark or high-contrast scenes.
Thanks to CinematicColor technology, this model covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, the standard used in the cinema industry. It supports HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG formats, for a faithful reproduction of high-dynamic content. Its 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast and 1.6x motorized zoom with vertical and horizontal lens-shift offer both installation flexibility and display precision, for a picture measuring up to 200″ across.

An experience calibrated to be spectacular
The ORION ONE demonstration showcased the W5800 under controlled conditions to reveal all its qualities. The picture was displayed on a very large screen with constant sharpness across the entire surface. Colors were rich, blacks deep, and moving scenes retained their smoothness thanks to integrated features such as Motion Enhancer.
Visitors were also able to appreciate the work carried out during the calibration process, with precise control of color temperature (11 levels), for an image that was faithful to the director’s intentions. This configuration was designed to bring the experience as close as possible to that of a real movie theater.

Summary
With ORION ONE, BenQ and MyCiné offered PAVS 2025 visitors a fully immersive experience, combining futuristic design and top-level technical performance. The BenQ W5800 projector delivers precise, bright and richly detailed 4K HDR projection. This installation provided guests with a concrete idea of what’s possible at home, combining advanced technology and thoughtful installation.
