Released just a few weeks before the 2025 edition of the Paris Audio Video Show (PAVS), the new Devialet Phantom Ultimate range was one of the stars of the show! Visitors flocked to the French manufacturer’s stand, nestled on the third floor of the Cité des Congrès, to admire the Phantom Ultimate 98 dB and Phantom Ultimate 108 dB connected speakers.
The revival of an iconic range
When Devialet Phantom speakers were launched 10 years ago, they reinvented the codes of connected hi-fi, offering a contemporary design solution in a compact format whose deep bass still resonates in the ears of music lovers. In 2025, the French manufacturer started a new chapter, taking advantage of an aesthetic heritage that has become iconic.
The two connected Devialet Phantom Ultimate 98 dB and 108 dB speakers retain the futuristic ovoid design of the first generation. The ultra-high-excursion drivers, which deliver an unrivaled and almost hypnotic performance, are also included. As for the rest, the brand has had the courage to reinvent itself.
To achieve this, Devialet has reworked the internal architecture of its two speakers, while optimizing the design of its drivers to improve control and tonal balance. Despite being complementary, the duo boast different approaches. The smaller model stands out as the compact solution with the most balanced sound, while the biggest speaker provides a full sensory experience.
Spectacular, demonstrative sound reproduction
Beyond being curious about the visual design of these speakers, visitors to PAVS 2025 seemed to be impressed by the sound and power deployed by the Devialet Phantom 108 dB. The bass managed to make the listening experience physical, where the low frequencies were felt as much as heard.
The speakers in the Devialet Phantom Ultimate range feature an optical input and a 24-bit/192kHz DAC. They are AirPlay 2, Google Cast and Bluetooth compatible for a flexible and versatile wireless experience.
On the aesthetic side, Devialet renews its prestigious partnership with the Opéra de Paris to offer a beautiful golden finish. Matte Light Pearl (matte white) and Deep Forest (dark green) versions were also on display.
