At the end of every year, the editorial team at Son-Vidéo.com shares its favorite products, highlighting the devices that most impressed them during testing. For my part, I’d like to take a look back at the TVs of 2025 that made the biggest impression on me, from new-generation OLEDs to ultra-high-performance Mini LEDs, for both cinema and gaming.

TCL 65C8K (TCL Q8C) 4K Mini LED TV

TCL C8K: Racing images
The TCL 65C8K impresses with its high brightness and well-controlled contrast for a Mini LED TV. A formidable alternative to OLED, it’s equally suitable for films and gaming.

With the TCL 65C8K, the Chinese manufacturer confirms its incredible rise in the affordable premium TV segment. A direct successor to the highly successful C89B, this 7th generation Mini LED model combines a QLED Pro panel, extremely precise backlighting and impressive brightness, all at a particularly aggressive price.

The TCL 65C8K impressed me with its image quality: rich, vibrant colors, very deep blacks for an LCD panel, and contrast that is on a par with some OLED TVs. 4K HDR content boasts spectacular dynamic range, with highly detailed highlights and generally well-controlled blooming. Even in dark scenes, details remain perfectly legible.

TCL clearly designed this TV with gamers in mind. 4K compatibility up to 144Hz, VRR, ALLM and FreeSync Premium Pro guarantee exemplary smoothness and very low input lag. PC enthusiasts will also appreciate 2K support up to 240Hz.

The Bang & Olufsen audio system delivers immersive Dolby Atmos sound that is surprisingly full-bodied for such a slim TV. Finally, the Google TV interface is as complete, smooth and pleasant to use as ever.

This convincing Mini LED TV is ideal for those looking for a versatile, high-performance alternative to OLED, without blowing their budget.

LG OLED55G5 4K OLED TV

The LG OLED55G5 pushes the limits of OLED, with significantly increased brightness and consistently perfect blacks. A premium TV ideal for both cinema and high-frequency gaming.

With the LG OLED55G5, the Korean manufacturer pushes the limits of OLED even further with its new ultra-bright Tandem OLED panel. The result is simply remarkable.

From the very first minutes of viewing, I was impressed by the dynamic range of the image. Blacks are as perfect as ever, but brightness has improved significantly compared to previous generations, making HDR content even more striking. Cinema and Filmmaker modes benefit from excellent calibration, faithful to the filmmakers’ intentions.

The α11 AI processor efficiently optimizes every scene, while Dolby Vision compatibility ensures highly accurate HDR rendering. In gaming, support for 4K up to 165Hz, VRR, G-Sync and FreeSync guarantees impeccable fluidity and ultra-fast response times.

The ultra-slim wall-mounted design remains one of the great assets of the G5 range, allowing the TV to literally blend into the background. The webOS 25 interface is as smooth, customizable and application-rich as ever.

LG has created a benchmark OLED TV, ideal for discerning movie lovers and gamers looking for a spectacular, bright and perfectly controlled image.

Hisense 65U8Q 4K Mini LED TV

Hisense 65U8Q: The Grand Tour 01
Ultra-bright and extremely fluid, the Hisense 65U8Q delivers a spectacular image in HDR cinema and video games alike. A Mini LED designed for spectacular images and discerning gamers.

The Hisense 65U8Q is without doubt one of the most spectacular Mini LED TVs I’ve tested this year. Ultra-bright, extremely smooth and very well equipped, it’s clearly aimed at thrill-seekers, both in cinema and gaming.

With a peak luminous intensity of 5,000 nits and over 2,000 backlighting zones, the picture delivered by this TV is nothing short of impressive. HDR content gains in impact, with intense colors and deep blacks, while maintaining excellent legibility in high-contrast scenes. Filmmaker and IMAX Enhanced modes deliver a convincing cinema look.

For video games, Hisense hits hard with a native 165Hz panel that is VRR and FreeSync Premium Pro compatible, but also with the rare presence of a DisplayPort USB-C port, ideal for PC gamers. Fluidity is exceptional, with very low input lag.

The audio section, optimized by Devialet, offers full, punchy Dolby Atmos and DTS:X rendering, well above the average for TVs on the market. The VIDAA interface is fast, intuitive and efficient.

This ultra-versatile TV, perfect for those who want a spectacular picture, offers high brightness and top-notch gaming performance at a very competitive price.

Sony 65 Bravia 8 II OLED 4K TV

Sony 65 Bravia 8 II
With its QD-OLED panel and Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, the Sony Bravia 8 II offers first-rate visual and sound immersion. A TV designed above all for movie lovers.

With the Bravia 8 II, Sony has created an incredibly coherent 2025 OLED TV, designed above all for lovers of cinema and beautiful images… not forgetting sound, one of the manufacturer’s specialities.

Thanks to its latest-generation QD-OLED panel and Cognitive XR processor, the Sony 65 Bravia 8 II delivers a picture of remarkable precision. Colors are vibrant yet natural, blacks perfectly controlled and HDR rendering that is extremely detailed. Sony-calibrated modes, notably for Netflix or Sony Pictures Core, deliver a faithful image right out of the box.

But where this TV really stood out for me was in the audio department. Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology literally transforms the screen into a driver. Dialogue seems to come directly from the faces on the screen, and the soundstage gains in coherence and immersion. For a TV, the result is breathtaking.

Gamers haven’t been forgotten, with support for 120Hz 4K, VRR and ALLM via HDMI 2.1, as well as the Perfect for PlayStation 5 certification, which automatically optimizes settings in game and video.

This premium OLED TV excels in both home theater and sound reproduction, proving ideal for those who want a full cinema experience without immediately adding a soundbar.

In conclusion

OLED or Mini LED, cinema or gaming, budget or ultra-premium… this selection of favorites covers all uses and all user profiles.
