In the world of home theater, certain visual artifacts can detract from the experience, even with high-end equipment. An example of this is the rainbow effect typical of DLP projectors. Valerion, a specialist in long-throw projectors, has announced the integration of its Anti-Rainbow technology across its entire range. How does this development actually improve image quality?

A recurring problem with DLP projectors

The rainbow effect (or RBE for Rainbow Effect) manifests itself in red, green and blue flashes that some people perceive during fast-moving or high-contrast scenes. This phenomenon is linked to the sequential separation of colors in DLP projection systems, which display each image in three stages (red component, then green, then blue). While the majority of users are not particularly sensitive to this, around 40% of viewers say they are affected, sometimes to the point of experiencing significant visual discomfort.

A combined hardware and software solution

To eliminate this phenomenon, Valerion has developed an in-house technology, originally designed for its premium VisionMaster Max model. It combines an increase in refresh rate with image processing algorithms that accelerate color scrolling. The result: a colorimetric sequence imperceptible to the naked eye, resulting in a more uniform, artifact-free image, while maintaining sharpness, brightness and movement clarity.

The rainbow effect manifests itself as red, green or blue outlines around certain elements of the image, particularly in fast-moving scenes and on moving objects.

This technology offers a significant improvement in visual comfort, particularly during long viewing sessions.

Extended to the entire range, at no extra cost

Given the proven effectiveness of this technology, Valerion has chosen to integrate it into all its current models: VisionMaster Pro, VisionMaster Pro 2, StreamMaster Plus and StreamMaster Plus 2. This enhancement is free for users, and simply requires an update to the Android firmware (version P1215) and the projector’s DLP display engine.

Eason Zhu, the brand’s CTO and co-founder, sums up the decision:

The Anti-RBE technology we developed for the VisionMaster Max has proved so effective […] that we felt it should be made available to all Valerion customers.

An approach consistent with Valerion’s strategy

This initiative is in line with Valerion’s commitment to offering uncompromising premium image quality. As the AWOL Vision group’s top-of-the-range brand, Valerion relies on advanced technical solutions, such as RGB laser technology and precision lenses, to stand out in the home theater projector market. By extending Anti-RBE to all its models, the brand reinforces the coherence of its catalog and meets the expectations of the most discerning users.

Summary

With the extension of its Anti-RBE technology to its entire catalog, Valerion has taken another step towards a smoother, more immersive projection experience. This free update resolves a well-identified problem with DLP systems, and improves visual comfort for a significant proportion of users. By combining technical innovation and accessibility, Valerion confirms its position as a major player in high-end home theater.
