FiiO accelerates its move into desktop hi-fi in 2026

Having established itself as an essential reference in portable audio thanks to its DACs and DAPs, FiiO is gradually expanding its catalog to include home listening. A transition initiated by a particularly accomplished range of desktop DACs and headphone amplifiers. In 2026, the manufacturer confirms this rise and intends to further structure its desktop hi-fi offering with the arrival of three new projects: the FiiO R7 R2R DAC-streamer, the FiiO DP11 CD player, and an entry-level streamer still under study, the FiiO S13.

FiiO R7 R2R: the all-in-one desktop device takes a decisive step forward

Expected to be released in June 2026, the FiiO R7 R2R is a continuation of the original R7, retaining its format and ergonomics, including the large vertical touchscreen that has become a signature feature and ensures smooth navigation through the Android ecosystem. However, the changes are far from insignificant. Firstly, the heart of the machine has been upgraded with the adoption of a Qualcomm 680 processor, replacing the 660, to improve overall responsiveness and stability for streaming apps. Most importantly, the philosophy of the digital section has changed: the classic integrated DAC has been replaced by a discrete R2R DAC developed in-house by FiiO. A strong trend at FiiO, with the recent FiiO K11 R2R and FiiO K13 R2R DACs, as well as the FiiO M33 R2R DAP. This architecture is becoming a true signature of the brand, with more organic reproduction, richer textures, and a more analog sound.

Launched in 2023, the FiiO R7 was a great success thanks to its many functions, acting as an audio streamer, hi-fi DAC, desktop headphone amp and hi-fi preamplifier. In 2026, the manufacturer is adjusting this formula with a fully passive R2R DAC for even greater musicality.

Marketed as an all-in-one desktop streamer, the FiiO R7 R2R will also feature a powerful headphone amp with balanced and unbalanced outputs, full access to various streaming services, web radios and files shared on the local network, as well as extensive connectivity enabling all sources to be centralized and combined in an existing hi-fi system, whether as a streamer or preamplifier.

FiiO DP11: the return of the desktop CD

At a time when the CD is enjoying a revival, FiiO seems determined to contribute to the return of this physical medium. After the FiiO DM13 BT and FiiO DM15 R2R portable players, the brand is now announcing the FiiO DP11, a desktop model designed to naturally complement the K series DAC amplifiers and headphones. Once more, the brand’s approach is pragmatic. Rather than directly competing in the already crowded market for mid-range and high-end CD players from established hi-fi manufacturers, FiiO offers a compact, simple, and affordable player.

With the FiiO DP11 player, the Asian manufacturer offers a compact, affordable solution for enjoying discs both on the hi-fi system in the living room and at the desk, thanks to a design shared with the other electronics in the K range.

Although little is yet known about this model, the brand has announced that it will concentrate on the essentials: a reliable mechanism, aesthetic integration consistent with its electronics and an affordable price. Enough to meet the needs of many compact systems in which the CD remains a source in its own right. Its release is scheduled for June 2026.

FiiO S13: an entry-level streamer

Announced last year, the FiiO S13 was supposed to be the entry ticket to the S series network player range, dedicated to traditional stereo hi-fi systems. However, its development was put on hold to allow FiiO to focus on the overall user experience of this range. User feedback highlighted the need to optimize ergonomics and control modes, particularly when the smartphone is the main interface. Furthermore, in an industrial context marked by a significant increase in the cost of components, particularly storage and metal, FiiO has chosen to proceed cautiously with this entry-level model in order to maintain consistent value for money.

As a result, the future of the S13 remains uncertain. FiiO does not rule out a revival of the project, but with no firm timetable. And if it does see the light of day, it will probably not be before the end of 2026. This transparency is much appreciated, contrasting sharply with overly optimistic announcements that are often contradicted by the reality of the industry.

Still uncertain, the FiiO S13 player (shown here on the FiiO S15) should offer a complete Android ecosystem for streaming and local Hi-Res playback in a more compact and accessible format than its larger sibling.

A deliberate long-term strategy

Behind these announcements, FiiO reaffirms a strong guiding principle: no rush, but rather a gradual build-up. Portable products remain the mainstay of the business, while desktop hi-fi is being built step by step, with sometimes difficult but necessary sacrifices to ensure healthy growth. The icing on the cake: the brand has also confirmed the upcoming arrival of a MINI desktop rack specially designed to elegantly stack these new devices.

Developed to elegantly house the brand’s desktop hi-fi electronics, this MINI FiiO rack lets you stack DACs, streamers and amplifiers in a compact format, while ensuring neat integration on a desk or hi-fi cabinet.

In 2026, FiiO will also consolidate its hi-fi range, with its very first tube stereo amplifier, the FiiO EA13, accompanied by a pair of groundbreaking passive speakers, the FiiO SV13.
