A brand that’s celebrating its 80th anniversary

Lenco was founded in Switzerland in 1946 by Fritz and Marie Laeng. The couple first opened their electronics store, which soon developed into a production plant to supply the store’s shelves. Right from the start, Marie and Fritz set out to offer reliable, affordable equipment.

At the dawn of the 1960s, the first Lenco turntables changed the destiny of the small family business. The famous Lenco L75 established itself as a robust solution, winning over a professional audience in search of reliability. Having become a benchmark, the brand was courted by various players seeking to collaborate. This was notably the case for Goldring, which produced the GS-70 turntable and the iconic GL-75 from 1967 onwards, in partnership with Lenco. By the 1970s, Lenco had become an international brand, with 1,300 employees and three production sites. Over time, the company also opened up to new markets, such as radios and DVD players, while retaining its turntable expertise.

Lenco: vinyl expertise

As a consumer brand, Lenco aims to make vinyl accessible to as many people as possible. That’s why the manufacturer develops all-in-one solutions that are easy to use. These vinyl systems combine a turntable, RIAA amplification and pre-amplification modules, as well as drivers. Both plug-and-play and compact, they fall into two categories: those with drivers integrated into the turntable chassis, and those with external speakers.

The Lenco LS-300, LS-500, LS-600 and LS-700 are in this second category. The external stereo speakers are powered by an amplification system directly integrated into the turntable chassis. The increase in price across the range is due to the use of a more efficient cartridge, as well as premium materials such as carbon and more powerful amplification.

Turntables with modern features

Lenco also offers a full range of Lenco LBT turntables with modern features such as Bluetooth transmission to listen to records wirelessly and vinyl to digital conversion via USB. This range is a perfect illustration of the brand’s values: offering upgradable audio equipment with excellent value for money. In fact, all Lenco turntables feature a switchable phono preamp. As a result, they can evolve over time and adapt to a system upgrade with the integration of an external preamplifier.
