Cinephile, music lover and enthusiast of new technologies, François is our TV and video projector expert at Son-Vidéo.com. From an early age, image and sound have played an important role in his life: Wednesdays are punctuated by cinema outings and cult animated series such as Goldorak, Albator, Les Mystérieuses Cités d’Or, Cat’s Eyes or Téléchat, while American film classics are revealed to him thanks to La Dernière Séance programs. At the same time, he discovered the richness of music thanks to his parents, who instilled in him a taste for attentive listening on the family hi-fi system. Two seminal shocks marked this period: the discovery of Michael Jackson’s Thriller at a cousin’s house, and the cinema screening of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
His passion for home cinema began in the early 1990s, with friends of his parents, equipped with an overhead projector, LaserDiscs and a Dolby ProLogic audio system. This revelation sparked a lifelong fascination with large-format images and immersive sound. A few years later, François worked as a buyer-salesman in a second-hand high-tech equipment store. For ten years or so, this position enabled him to deepen his knowledge, handle all kinds of equipment and specialize in audio and video. He began equipping himself with 16:9 TVs, LaserDisc and DVD players, PlayStation, then a video projector, using a simple white Ikea awning as his first canvas.
In 2007, he joined the Son-Vidéo.com team. Here, he puts his expertise to good use, writing product sheets for TVs and projectors, producing technical guides, carrying out tests and publishing articles on the blog. A demanding cinephile, he enjoys watching movies on the big screen, whether at home or in the cinema. In fact, he tries to go to the cinema regularly. His favorites include Ford v Ferrari, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Shawshank Redemption, the Back to the Future trilogy and the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings sagas. As for TV series, he’s particularly fond of Twin Peaks, Life On Mars, Breaking Bad, Severance, Arcane, Love, Death & Robots and Inside No. 9. And when he’s not watching movies, he sometimes takes the wheel, virtually, for a few laps on Gran Turismo, with a clear preference for the Le Mans circuit.
A music lover at heart, François enjoys listening to an album on a well-tuned hi-fi system just as much as he does a good pair of Bluetooth headphones while out and about. His musical tastes are resolutely eclectic: he can just as easily let himself be carried away by the bewitching voices of London Grammar, Billie Eilish, Rumer, Melody Gardot or Gabi Hartmann, as vibrate to the sound of Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Sting, Chris Stapleton or Pink Floyd. He also appreciates the current independent scene, with artists such as L’Impératrice, The Pineapple Thief, Feu! Chatterton, Balthazar, Arctic Monkeys, Alela Diane and Leon Bridges. He regularly attends concerts, always on the lookout for great sonic emotions.
