Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40: the in-ear monitors of tomorrow

Mis à jour le 22 October 2021.

The legendary Technics brand has announced two new models of True Wireless in-ear monitors: the Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 . Technics announced more than 24 hours of battery life with the charging case and a new voice capture technology with noise reduction feature. These two new sets of in-ear monitors, marketed respectively at € 299 and € 149, are intended as an instrument in their own right for everyday use, at work, at home or even for workouts.

JustMyVoice: optimal voice capture

The Japanese manufacturer described the True Wireless Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 as the concentration of many advanced digital technologies into an ultra-compact format, which fits in the palm of your hand. One of the peculiarities of these headphones is the JustMyVoice system, developed to actively detect and capture the user’s voice, while analyzing and isolating surrounding noise to ensure great clarity during calls. The idea for this system took shape when, over a year ago, many users started working from home and discovered that reliable, high-quality earbuds were essential during video conferences and calls. The JustMyVoice function meets this requirement perfectly and makes the Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 IEMs essential elements for professional use. It then becomes possible to enjoy clear and tangible conversations in noisy environments or when working from home. When outside, wind noise is also reduced.

The JustMyVoice technology of the Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 earphones ensures optimal voice capture while reducing unwanted noise, for clear and tangible conversations.

Transparent and Attention modes

The Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 Bluetooth in-ear monitors feature the “Ambient Sound” system which can be set to “Transparent” or “Attention” mode. The “Transparent” mode captures and reproduces exactly all outside noise, allowing the user to listen to music or talk on the phone while paying attention to their surroundings. This is a great solution to cross the street safely. The “Attention” mode captures sounds located in the frequency range of the human voice and reproduces them by intensifying them, which allows you to chat without having to remove the IEMs. This function also makes it possible to remain attentive to announcements in a train station, an airport or a bus.

The “Transparent” and “Attention” modes allow you to hear your outside environment or to converse, without having to remove the Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 IEMs.

Active noise-cancelling

In addition to Transparent and Attention modes, the Technics EAH-AZ60 headphones – the more complete of the two models – also features an active noise reduction function to make the most of music when silence is required. This hybrid noise reduction function works in tandem with a set of 8 microphones to capture the surrounding noise inside and outside the headphones and completely isolate the listener so that only music remains. It is thus possible to fully enjoy all your music without having to turn the volume up, even in noisy environments. The Technics EAH-AZ40 do not have a noise reduction function and rely solely on the passive isolation provided by the ear tips, already very effective.

The active noise reduction of the Technics EAH-AZ60 headphones ensures fully immersive sound in all circumstances.

Multipoint Bluetooth

The Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 IEMs benefit from a Bluetooth 5.2 module compatible with the Multipoint function. This allows you to be connected to two Bluetooth devices at the same time and easily switch between the two sources. So, by connecting your PC and your smartphone at the same time to the headphones, you can for example be listening to music through your smartphone and receiving a call on your PC. The Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 headphones then directly recognize incoming calls and pause the music. After the call ends, the in-ear monitors automatically resume muscial playback.

Technics acoustics

The acoustic design of these new Technics IEMs is based on the Japanese brand’s 55 years of expertise. The Technics EAH-AZ60 are decidedly the most audiophile model of the two, with a unique acoustic chamber specifically developed to optimize airflow for powerful bass and enhanced midrange. The 8mm diameter transducer features a biocellulose membrane, which is both rigid and flexible for a pure and natural sound. In addition, the Technics EAH-AZ60 are compatible with the Bluetooth LDAC codec to maximize the transmission rate and enjoy very high quality listening. Of course, they are Hi-Res Audio certified. Finally, although the Technics EAH-AZ40 are not LDAC compatible, they still promise a very musical listening experience with a 6mm transducer and the same acoustic chamber as the EAH-AZ60.

The Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 Bluetooth in-ear monitors promise powerful bass and faithful sound reproduction.

Extensive battery life

The other major advantage of these new Technics headphones is their extensive battery life. Each earbud benefits from an integrated battery offering up to 7 hours of listening time with the active noise reduction of the Technics EAH-AZ60 or 7 hours and 30 minutes for the Technics EAH-AZ40. The battery life can be extended thanks to the charging / carrying case that comes with each pair of IMEs and adds up to 24 hours of battery life for the Technics EAH-AZ60 and 25 hours for the Technics EAH-AZ40. They are therefore perfect for working all day or accompanying you on your daily commute.

With an autonomy of 24 and 25 hours respectively, the Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 True Wireless in-ear monitors rank among the longest-lasting models on the market.

Price & availability

The two new Technics EAH-AZ60 and Technics EAH-AZ40 headphones are now available for pre-order for € 229 and € 149. The shipping is planned to begin in the coming months. Along with these new IEMs, the Japanese manufacturer has also announced the development of the new Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones which should be released in early 2022.
