Currently released on the PS5 Beta channel, the latest firmware update brings improvements to the DualSense controller’s microphone and driver. Also on the agenda are new split-screen social interactions that allow your friends to take a more active part in your gaming sessions.

How to take part in the PS5 Beta program
PlayStation offers gamers the chance to test the console’s new features in advance. To do this, you need to submit a request to the manufacturer on the dedicated page. Requests aren’t automatically accepted, so you may have to be patient before taking advantage of these experimental updates.
Please note that these are Beta versions, not intended for the general public, and may add problems that could affect the PS5’s operation. These fimwares are aimed at advanced users who want to try out new features and report any bugs they discover. Typically, these new additions are corrected and then uploaded to the public channel a few weeks after Beta release. We do not recommend installing this Beta version.
What’s new in this new PS5 firmware?
The previous update of Sony’s console added Dolby Atmos, and now PlayStation is determined to push social interaction within the PS5. The last 24.01-08.60.00 public update concerned the “Parties” tab, which now lets you quickly find the latest groups you’ve joined. It also added support for Pulse Explore headphones, a sound equalizer and a voice chat effect.
This new Beta firmware continues in this direction, and now offers improved audio from the microphone and driver integrated into the DualSense and DualSense Edge. This small driver on the controller can provide higher volume, making it easier to distinguish sounds and voices from games. The level can still be adjusted in the console parameters.
The biggest addition to this Beta update is improved noise cancellation. If you record gameplay on the PS5 and capture your voice using the DualSense’s microphone, you could sometimes hear the pressure on the keys. A new filter corrects this problem with an AI-based machine learning model. To take advantage of this, you’ll also need to update the DualSense firmware from this Beta version of the OS.
New in screen sharing!
Players will be able to share their gaming sessions with friends. This feature is enhanced by the addition of sliders and emojis that can be added to the image by viewers. This provides more interaction and can also allow your friends to give you directions by drawing a line or highlighting an area on the split screen. Spectators can also add emojis to the screen to congratulate you or simply to react to the game. Welcome features that enhance social interaction on PlayStation 5.

PlayStation is continuing its efforts to bring new features to the PlayStation 5 and the excellent DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers. Sony’s console is as popular as ever, having just exceeded 50 million units sold a few weeks ago. The Japanese manufacturer continues to break records, and the PlayStation community is growing by the day!
