Vinyle & Audio, defenders of physical media

When Vinyle & Audio magazine was launched, it was based on a single premise: a love of music and physical media, especially vinyl. The editorial team wanted to combine this with its passion for technical innovations. There would be pages about music news of all kinds, but also segments devoted to the format that the magazine will always consider one of the few consumer goods to have experienced a genuine resurrection: vinyl.

Every week, new record stores open in France and abroad. And since Vinyle & Audio needed the best way to listen to and preserve its precious records for as long as possible, the publication made a point of examining the equipment needed to listen to them. A section devoted to hi-fi equipment seemed to be essential, a driving force even. Everything is connected. If brands are innovating, it’s because they’ve witnessed the rebirth of a format that the industry thought was obsolete. In the early 2000s, it was difficult to buy turntables, but now they’re available in specialist stores and supermarkets alike.

Vinyle & Audio continues to promote physical media through vinyl. This new issue of the magazine focuses on the career of Claude Nougaro.

Vinyle & Audio is the only magazine that combines its curiosity for music news with a love of a format – which it calls vinyl culture – and a passion for the best audio systems available. Every two months, the magazine keeps abreast of what’s new. Every two months, you are invited to discover a world of audiophile music lovers.

Claude Nougaro, decades of success

Claude Nougaro died exactly twenty years ago, on March 4, 2004, at the age of 74. A singer-songwriter with a singular ability to blend the swing of American jazz with the words of a poet. “Armstrong”, “Cécile” and “Le Jazz et la java” are the three most popular and loved songs in his repertoire.

Although he recorded with Michel Legrand at the start of his career, he soon discovered Baden Powell and Brazilian rhythms, which he embraced wholeheartedly. The album Nougayork was seen as his resurrection, having been dropped by his record company. Despite this disappointment, the 58-year-old moved to New York to reinvent himself. With an insatiable curiosity, he never ceased to spice up his productions with world music elements, thanks to Ray Lema and Didier Lockwood.
