A minimalist show

Genius or out-of-touch artist? It’s hard to decide when it comes to Kanye West. On February 25, the Chicago rapper took up residence at the Accor Arena in Paris for an event to present his new project. Created with Ty Dolla Sign, Vultures 1 toured the world just a few weeks after its release.

A truly unique artist, Kanye West opted for a very minimalist show. As a result, spectators, who had access to the box office five days before the event, were treated to a listening party that was both a live performance and a group listening session. The artist went up hooded, on an empty stage, without a microphone and with a few friends. He stirred up the crowd, danced and posed as the 15 tracks from his new album blared from the venue’s loudspeakers. In just over an hour, neither Kanye West nor any other artist on stage uttered a single word.

Classics and new hits

In addition to tracks from the album, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s listening party featured the controversial track Good (Don’t die). Originally part of the Vultures 1 project, the song was withdrawn from platforms following accusations of plagiarism of Donna Summer’s I Feel Love. A semi-exclusive experience for fans at the Accor Arena. Kanye West also added three of his classic tracks to the show: N*** In Paris, Black Skinhead and Father Stretch My Hands.

For now, the rest of the Vultures 1 tour remains a mystery. There are no dates on the schedule for the artist who likes to surprise his audiences. Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s listening experience was tested in Chicago, New York, Milan and Bologna.
