Solange Knowles, a socially-aware artist

A Seat at the Table is a politcal album. With this project, released in 2016, Solange Knowles wanted to condemns the cultural appropriation of which Soul, Rap, Blues, Jazz and Funk music is victim. An artist with strong values, the American singer speaks out in favor of female bodily autonomy, particularly in the black community. In the image of the track “Don’t Touch My Hair“, Solange Knowles rises up against white people’s policing of black bodies. So it was only natural that Sonorium, in partnership with Son-Vidéo.com and Focal, should associate the Solange Knowles album with the “Faisons corps” exhibition.

Two listening sessions scheduled

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, in conjunction with the “Faisons corps” exhibition, Sonorium is organizing two listening sessions for the album, at 3pm and then 5pm at the MAIF Social Club, located at 37 rue de Turenne in Paris (3ͤ arrondissement). The listening experience, under hi-fi conditions thanks to the participation of Son-Vidéo.com and Focal floorstanding speakers, will echo the works exhibited by 14 artists. This multi-sensory exhibition will benefit from a new dimension thanks to Solange Knowles’ music. Both sessions will be hosted by Rhoda Tchokokam, who wrote “Sensibles : une histoire du R&B français”.
