Sony has just unveiled three new TV ranges for 2024: Mini-LED and OLED share the limelight with XXL TVs measuring up to 85″/215cm. The manufacturer has taken the opportunity to simplify the names of its various ranges. Find out more in this article!

Until the end of 2024, Sony is extending its Sony X75WL, Sony X80L, Sony X85L and Sony X90L series, the manufacturer’s entry-level and mid-range LED TVs. The Japanese brand is also keeping its flagship, the Sony A95L QD-OLED range, which won over home theater fans from the moment it was launched late last year.

Sony’s new 2024 TVs therefore focus on the Mini-LED and OLED ranges, with three new TV series: the Sony Bravia 9, Sony Bravia 8 and Sony Bravia 7.

Sony Bravia 9 Premium Mini-LED TV

Sony Bravia 9
The Sony Bravia 9 series is the flagship of the Japanese manufacturer’s 2024 Mini-LED TV range. It is available in two XXL formats: 75″/189cm and 85″/215cm.

The successor to the Sony X95L range, the Sony Bravia 9 series is aimed at fans of very large images, with two sizes: 75″/189cm and 85″/215cm. These Sony Bravia 9 TVs feature a QLED panel with Mini LED backlighting. They should deliver a very bright, high-contrast image thanks to XR Backlight Master Drive technology, which precisely controls the thousands of LEDs. The local brightness gradation algorithm ensures optimum contrast, preserving detail in dark areas while maintaining the brightness of lighter areas. The manufacturer has announced up to 325% more dimming zones than the 2023 X95L model, and even higher brightness peaks.

The Japanese manufacturer is also equipping this Sony Bravia 9 range with a powerful XR processor with artificial intelligence to optimize image realism, working in particular on the smoothness and sharpness of rapid on-screen action.

HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic range images are supported to guarantee viewers high contrast and rich, nuanced colors. The IMAX Enhanced certification and the exclusive Sony Pictures Core streaming platform (formerly Bravia Core) are also included (10 films and 24 months of streaming for free), as is the Google TV interface with integrated Google Assistant and Chromecast.

The audio section of the Sony Bravia 9 range takes advantage of Acoustic Multi Audio+ technology to deliver an immersive sound experience on Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio tracks. The TV can also be used as the center speaker in a home theater system (Acoustic Center Sync). Finally, 4K 120Hz compatibility on HDMI 2.1 ports, with support for ALLM and VRR gaming functions, ensures an optimal gaming experience, especially on PlayStation 5.

The Sony Bravia 9 range comes in two picture sizes, 75″/189cm and 85″/215cm, with sales scheduled for June. Prices will be announced shortly.

These Sony Bravia 8 OLED TVs use an XR processor with cognitive intelligence that simultaneously analyzes and optimizes the various elements that make up the image. Sound is enhanced by Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, which makes the panel vibrate like the cone of a speaker driver. The sound really comes out of the screen! Naturally, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are supported by the audio section of these Sony 2024 TVs.

As a buyer and seller of second-hand high-tech products for around ten years before joining Son-Vidéo.com in 2007, I had the opportunity to test a variety of amplifiers, speakers, headphones, TVs, projectors and DAPs... Passionate about films and series, music and new technologies, I'm particularly fond of the worlds of TV, video projection and home theater. I like to watch films with my family on the big screen, either at the movie theater or at home, but I also enjoy listening to music on a good hi-fi system, sat in a comfy armchair or on a walk with a pair of headphones.
