FiiO has launched the DM13 CD player, a compact, portable model designed to let you enjoy CDs at home or on the move. Priced at €139, this ultra-versatile model combines the functions of a CD player, a headphone amplifier and a USB DAC. A Bluetooth version is also available, so you can enjoy your CDs in the car, for example!
FiiO DM13, ideal for enjoying a CD collection
The FiiO DM13 CD player is designed for enthusiasts nostalgic for the Sony Walkman era, but also for audiophiles looking for a hybrid solution to enjoy their CDs with headphones. In fact, this multifunction player combines the features of a CD player, a headphone amp and a USB DAC.
The FiiO DM13’s built-in battery guarantees up to 10 hours of playback. This makes it easy to listen to CDs from the comfort of your sofa or on public transport. In addition, two SGM 8262 modules amplify the signal to power high-impedance headphones. As for outputs, the FiiO DM13 portable CD player, as well as its FiiO DM13 BT Bluetooth version, feature two headphone outputs: one unbalanced 3.5mm and one balanced 4.4mm. Power is rated at 660mW into 32 ohms on the balanced output, and 180mW into 32 ohms on the unbalanced output.
Modern technologies
The FiiO DM13 and DM13 BT CD players go further than simply playing precious compact discs. The ripper function creates a digital copy of your collection in WAV format, without compression, on the hard disk of the associated computer. As a result, music fans can also listen to High Definition digital versions of their discs at any time.
As already mentioned, FiiO has also developed a Bluetooth model with the same technical features, except for a Bluetooth transmitter. The latter supports the aptX, aptX Low Latency and aptX HD High Definition codecs. This version, christened FiiO DM13 BT, enables CDs to be streamed wirelessly to headphones or True Wireless earbuds.
Ultra-versatile, the FiiO DM13 BT CD player is available for €10 more than the standard version (€139). The first units, which will be in stock on November 20 on Son-Vidéo.com, are already available for sale, allowing you can enjoy your CD collection.
