Hi-fi specialist and car audio expert Focal has announced a collaboration with Opel. This new partnership concerns the Grandland electric SUV, which is equipped with a 10-speaker premium hi-fi system, powered by a 12-channel, 690-watt amplifier.
A high-end car audio system
To inaugurate the collaboration between the two brands, Focal is pulling out all the stops. The car audio system integrated into the Opel Grandland features 10 drivers to deliver an immersive sound experience, rich in emotions. The position of each driver has been meticulously studied to guarantee optimum sound quality. The central driver, located in the dashboard, is capable of reproducing the full spectrum of the human voice as well as numerous instruments, enhancing the spatialization of the soundstage.
Inside the Opel Grandland electric SUV, two listening modes are available to enhance the immersive experience. The All-Passengers preset optimizes stereo sound for each passenger, while the Front Optimised mode widens and deepens the stereo scene for front passengers. The sound is enveloping, offering clear, detailed vocals and deep, punchy bass.
Focal know-how
Focal’s 10-driver premium hi-fi system benefits from the French brand’s exclusive technologies. The four midrange drivers and the central model are equipped with a Polyglass cone that is 6.5 inches in diameter. By applying fine glass microbeads to a cellulose pulp membrane, this technology combines the excellent damping properties of paper with the rigidity of glass. The result is a more linear frequency response curve.
In the trunk, bass is handled by a triple-coil elliptical subwoofer fitted with a Power Flower magnet. This replaces the standard ferrite magnet and helps create a powerful magnetic field. In the rear doors and at the ends of the dashboard are four aluminum TNF inverted-dome tweeters. The system is powered by a 12-channel, 690-watt class D amplifier.
