At CES 2025, manufacturers unveiled technological innovations likely to transform our everyday uses. Among them, the 1More SonoFlow Max headphones could well launch a revolution in wireless listening. The SonoFlow Max is one of the first models to feature lossless Wi-Fi connectivity, an advance that calls into question the dominant position of Bluetooth.

Wi-Fi in headphones: a logical evolution?
For several years now, connected speakers have begun to adopt Wi-Fi in order to overcome the limitations of Bluetooth: restricted range and audio quality that’s often limited by compression. Like the recent Sonos Ace headphones, the 1More SonoFlow Max features Wi-Fi connectivity to diffuse high-quality sound throughout the coverage radius of a Wi-Fi set-top box. No more connection dropouts, it promises unique freedom of movement. Good news for gamers too: this connectivity, also used on gaming headphones via dongles, promises considerably reduced latency. Bluetooth 5.3 remains present for outdoor use.

So, is Bluetooth doomed to disappear from homes? While its importance remains undeniable for mobile use, Wi-Fi seems better suited to users’ new expectations: irreproachable audio quality and uncompromising range. Although the 1More SonoFlow Max are not yet available for sale, their announcement heralds a massive arrival of Wi-Fi headphones.

Packed with advanced technologies
The 1More SonoFlow Max headphones integrate a range of new features, including local storage to enjoy playlists and music even without an Internet connection. There are also voice and gesture controls for controlling the headphones vocally or with head movements. Wellness features (fall detection, activity reminders) are also included. In terms of autonomy, the brand claims 55 hours of listening time with active noise cancelling (ANC).
The rise of Wi-Fi-connected headphones could well redefine the standards of home wireless audio, offering users a richer, smoother experience. Will Bluetooth soon be a thing of the past in our homes? Only time will tell.
