Focal and DS Automobiles continue their collaboration initiated in 2016. The French in-car hi-fi specialist has unveiled a 14-speaker audio system designed for the DS N°8 electric SUV. Called ELECTRA 3D by Focal, this system, powered by a 14-channel amplifier developing 690 watts, promises an immersive, three-dimensional sound reproduction, pushing the limits of in-car audio.
Focal ELECTRA 3D, a three-dimensional audio system
The ELECTRA 3D by Focal system features 14 drivers powered by a 14-channel amplifier system with a total output of 690 watts. There is a long-throw center speaker, four aluminum/magnesium inverted tweeters, four Polyglass cone woofers and a pair of surround drivers, strategically placed throughout the interior to distribute sound evenly. A Power Flower subwoofer delivers deep, dynamic bass, while a class D amplifier ensures controlled, distortion-free power.
The major innovation of this system is the integration of TAM 3D tweeters. Placed in the headliner at the front of the car, these high-frequency drivers expand the soundstage vertically, reinforcing the three-dimensional effect. The sound bubble that surrounds passengers realistically recreates the sensations of a live concert.
Tailored settings
Like Focal’s premium car audio systems, the DS N°8 adopts two distinct listening modes. The first, “All-Passengers”, is a stereo mode optimized for each passenger. The second, “Front Optimized”, promises a sound experience that increases the width and depth of the stereo soundstage for the front seats. The sound is enveloping, vocals clear and detailed, bass deep and impactful.
What’s more, the three-dimensional sound reproduction of the ELECTRA 3D by Focal system also benefits from personalized settings. The 3D sound has three intensity levels: light, immersive and intense. This feature modifies the dynamics of the surround speakers and tweeters, as well as the subwoofer located in the trunk of the DS N°8.

The DS N°8 also benefits from an advanced acoustic treatment designed to reduce unwanted noise. This unique approach, featuring reinforced soundproofing, optimizes the sound reproduction of the ELECTRA 3D by Focal system. The two French specialists promise a precise, immersive listening experience, whatever the driving conditions.
