Denon and Marantz have just rolled out a software update for their HEOS ecosystem. This new version introduces significant improvements in navigation, network compatibility and music management. Here’s an overview of the main changes.
More precise navigation of USB files
Good news for users who listen to their music via a USB stick or disk: it is now possible to navigate freely within a track during playback. This new function makes it possible to instantly play a precise moment in a track, offering finer control over playback.
Queue extended to 1,000 titles
HEOS’ queueing capacity has been tripled, from 300 to 1,000 tracks. Playlists also benefit from this improvement, with the maximum capacity increased to 1,000 tracks. A welcome development for users with large music libraries or those who want to create a specific musical ambience without interruption.
Compatible with the SMB 3.0 protocol
HEOS now supports the SMB 3.0 file-sharing protocol, facilitating access to content stored on NAS devices and computers connected to the home network. This modern compatibility replaces the aging SMB 1.0, abandoned by most manufacturers and by Microsoft for security reasons.
Faster access to the home screen
The loading time of the HEOS home screen has been significantly reduced. Depending on the case, this display optimization can save more than 2 seconds, improving the comfort and fluidity of everyday use.
Extended Roon Ready integration
Another major new feature is that several HEOS-equipped devices are now officially Roon Ready compatible. This certification enables seamless integration with the renowned Roon music management platform, which centralizes libraries, enriches metadata and optimizes high-quality multi-room playback.
