Spotify Connect is a Direct Connect protocol, integrated into compatible amplifiers, network audio players or wireless speakers. It enables these devices to directly stream audio from Spotify servers, without first going through a mobile device or a computer, which subsequently serve only as remote controls. Bitperfect direct playback, along with battery and Wifi network bandwith economy, are the principal advantages of Spotify Connect.
Thanks to Spotify Connect, the Swedish online music service has become a forerunner on the music streaming market. By creating partnerships with Yamaha, Denon, Marantz, Pioneer, Cabasse, Onkyo, Bowers & Wilkins, Bang & Olufsen, Cambridge or Naim, to name only a few brands, Spotify has gained a considerable lead on its competitors Deezer, Apple Music, Qobuz or Tidal. These latter brands are still restricted to using AirPlay (iOS) or DLNA (Android) protocols, which are known for being high energy consumers and capricious at times.
How to use Spotify Connect
You can enjoy all Spotify Connect has to offer in either one of two ways: by downloading Spotify?s mobile app (iOS, Android) or by installing Spotify software for Windows and Mac OS.
