After the excellent reception response to the Elipson Heritage XLS 15 speaker with its vintage aesthetics, the French specialist is launching a more compact and more accessible version: the Elipson Heritage XLS 11. It uses the same formula as its larger counterpart, with a retro look and a three-way design. The 12″ woofer gives way to an 8″ model to maintain a compact format and integrate more easily into any interior.
Elipson Heritage XLS 15: a must-have
The new Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker builds on the elements introduced with the Elipson Heritage XLS 15. Launched in 2020, the latter adopts a vintage aesthetic inspired by speakers from the 60s and 70s such as the iconic Celestion Ditton 551, JBL 4312 and Pioneer HPM-100. It uses the same formula with a three-way design, a large woofer with a white paper cone, a bass-reflex enclosure with front-firing port and potentiometers on the front panel. A recipe that won us over during ourreview of the Elipson Heritage XLS 15 speakers. Both sublime and very musical, this French speaker also received praise from the specialist press upon its release, notably in the Diapason and Haute Fidélité magazines. The latter mentions: “the bass is well structured, robust, perfect for pop-rock music. The response is straight and consistent, which offers timbres that are both well defined, open, lacking neither detail nor variety. The current affordable vintage speaker from Elipson.” The new Elipson Heritage XLS 11 condenses the elements of this success into a more compact format.
Elipson Heritage XLS 11: 8″ driver
Like its larger counterpart, the Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker adopts a 3-way design. It incorporates an 8″ woofer. Like the 12″ model that equips the Elipson Heritage XLS 15 speaker, this driver is made from a cellulose fiber cone. A retro composition that makes it possible to achieve a cone that is both light and rigid, capable of moving air very efficiently and quickly. Coupled with a powerful magnetic assembly, this driver allows the Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker to reach 45Hz.
Elipson Heritage XLS 11: an unchanged formula
The other two drivers of the Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker are identical to those fitted in the XLS 15. There is therefore a 0.8″ silk dome tweeter, directly derived from the French manufacturer’s Prestige Facet range. This model provides an excellent transient regime as well as perfect control of high frequencies up to 25kHz. It is paired with a 2″ dome driver for the midrange. The latter is capable of covering almost three octaves on its own to ensure a more coherent and natural reproduction of the midrange, while limiting distortion.
Elipson Heritage XLS 11: adjustable gain
The Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker immerses the listener in the 60s/70s with its resolutely vintage aesthetic. Its wooden cabinet adopts numerous internal reinforcements to suppress vibrations and resonances. It can be placed directly on the ground or on dedicated Elipson XLS Stand 1 stands. The port on the front of the speaker can be blocked with a foam plug, allowing you to choose a bass-reflex or closed enclosure depending on your preferences or the placement of the speaker. The reproduction of the Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker can also be personalized using the two potentiometers on the front panel which allow the level of the midrange and highs to be adjusted over an amplitude of +/-1 dB.
With the new Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker, the French manufacturer offers its legendary Elipson Heritage XLS 15 speaker in a more compact format. The charm of vintage design is still on the menu, as are the main acoustic elements, for both visual and musical appeal.
