After the success of their first model, the B&O Beosound Stage, the Danish brand is pushing boundries with the new B&O Beosound Theatre soundbar. At the heart of this new gem are 12 drivers powered by 12 amplifiers totalling 800 watts… All with support for the Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 format! The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Theatre promises an exceptional immersive audio experience for enjoying the latest movies and TV shows. It will also be ideal for listening to your favorite Son-Vidéo.com playlists.
B&O Beosound Theatre: sound quality
The new Bang & Olufsen soundbar combines 12 drivers with a 3-way design. They are powered by 12 800-watt Class D amplifiers. For optimal musicality, the different drivers reproduce a frequency range between 28 and 23,000Hz. Using the principle of beamforming, the Beosound Theatre supports Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 channel tracks for a three-dimensional reproduction. In addition, the soundbar benefits from custom post-processing with B&O’s proprietary True Image algorithm. The volume is automatically increased or decreased according to the number of drivers used.
The B&O Beosound Theatre soundbar is equipped with a large coaxial center driver for voice reproduction. Bang & Olufsen delivers equipment that improves the clarity of dialogue for a more comfortable listening experience. The different elements of the film’s soundtrack are well layered to enjoy total immersion. Moreover, with a maximum sound level of 112 dB, this soundbar is perfectly suited for larger living rooms of up to 60m².
The calibration is done from the Bang & Olufsen app. The tripod and microphone should be placed level with the viewer’s position. A series of sounds are emitted by the soundbar and picked up by the microphone to analyze the parameters of the room. The Beosound Theatre soundbar also features two microphones to triangulate the listening area and ensure the best sound calibration.
Bang & Olufsen Beosound Theatre: aesthetics at the heart of the design
As usual, Bang & Olufsen unveils more than just a hi-fi system. The new Beosound Theatre soundbar is a real eye-catcher that will sit proudly underneath the most beautiful televisions. The Beosound Theatre is made of high quality materials such as glass, high quality Danish textiles and aluminum. In addition to their aesthetic aspects, the choice of materials is also made with an eco-responsible approach. The soundbar is therefore designed to provide users with exceptional durability and longevity.
In addition to favoring durable materials, the Danish brand offers an upgradable device, with software that can be updated over the years. Bang & Olufsen’s goal is to offer equipment with the smallest possible ecological footprint. A decision that began with the BeoSound Level Bluetooth speaker last year. It received cradle-to-cradle certification, from the institute that defines and promotes the development of upcyclable products.
The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Theatre soundbar is inspired by the silhouette of a boat, especially the lower part that looks like a stern. This part is adjustable to fit the size of your TV. The Beosound Theatre comes with various aluminum plates. Simply place the one that matches the width of your TV to enjoy a harmonious look with your equipment. These extra parts also allow you to upgrade your audio/video system with a larger TV, up to 77″, while maintaining a consistent aesthetic.
Available in two versions, the soundbar has either a fabric or a machined wood slat finish. Theses finishes have been developed so you can enjoy the best sound, regardless of the design choice.
B&O Beosound Theatre: connectivity
The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Theatre soundbar has a wide range of connectors to make it easy to integrate into your hi-fi or home theater system. The latter consists of 3 HDMI inputs and an HDMI eARC port with 4K 120 FPS / 8K 60 FPS / 40 Gbit/s passthrough. An analog audio input via USB-C, a 3.5mm mini jack, and an Ethernet port (4 x 1 Gbit) are also included.
Want to upgrade your home theater system? The good news is that the B&O Beosound Theatre soundbar can be paired with other B&O wireless WiFi speakers. It can therefore be used with real surround speakers (wired or wireless). Up to 16 speakers can be added. The viewer then benefits from an even more immersive sound. B&O allows pairing with recent speakers like the B&O Beolab 28, but also speakers of previous generations.
This soundbar is designed to evolve with your needs and preferences. Note that various updates will be available in the future and support for new codecs will be added. Finally, with Bluetooth 5.1 (AAC and SBC codecs), AirPlay 2, DLNA and Chromecast (as well as Spotify Connect, Deezer and QPlay), the B&O soundbar also enables high-quality wireless playback from your favorite music services.
Bang & Olufsen Beosound Theatre: intuitive use
To make the new soundbar easier to use, Bang & Olufsen provides various ways to control it. There are touch-sensitive buttons on its elegant glass top panel. These provide access to the volume control, playback (next / previous track, pause, play), but also to the Bluetooth pairing and four “favorites” buttons.
The listener can also operate the soundbar using the Beoremote One remote control (optional). This universal remote control made from a single block of aluminum allows you to control your entire B&O system. The keys are cleverly positioned and the integrated OLED display provides access to all the necessary information.
It is also possible to use the Beoremote Halo remote control (not included). The latter has a user-friendly interface so you can easily manage the soundbar. Simply press a button to play your music or rotate the ring to control the volume.
