Denon has just unveiled wireless earphones that adapt to the user’s hearing! The Denon PerL and Denon PerL Pro True Wireless earbuds are the first to feature Adaptive Acoustic Technology (AAT). Masimo, a company specializing in medical technology, is behind this innovation.
Denon PerL and Denon PerL Pro: AAT technology
How does the AAT technology used in Denon PerL and Denon PerL Pro True Wireless IEMs work? It is a calibration system that you simply activate in the Denon Headphones app. The technology broadcasts a range of sounds and analyzes the otoacoustic emissions produced by the inner ear in order to establish a diagnosis. Artificial intelligence then takes over to determine the sensitivity of each ear to different frequencies. Then each earbud will create a personalized profile that matches the user’s hearing.
The calibration system has been around for many years for wireless IEMs. For example, it is available on the JBL Tour Pro 2 earphones. What changes with Denon’s AAT technology is the automation of the process. Artificial intelligence analyzes the test results to suggest the most appropriate setting for the user’s characteristics. On JBL earphones, it’s the user who indicates via the app which frequencies they can hear.
Denon PerL Pro: aptX Lossless Bluetooth
Like the Denon PerL model, the versatile Denon PerL Pro True Wireless earphones feature active noise cancelling and a transparent mode. As a result, ambient noise is reduced to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the user’s needs, whether they are on public transport or in the office, for example. While both models feature 0.4″ drivers, the Pro version’s diaphragms are composed of a triple layer of titanium, guaranteeing a clearer, more precise sound reproduction.
To ensure the most immersive experience possible, the Denon PerL Pro True Wireless earbuds feature aptX Lossless Bluetooth technology. The latter ensures very low compression to deliver a signal close to CD quality. What’s more, they feature Dirac Virtuo audio spatialization technology that naturally expands the soundstage. The Pro version also stands out for its battery life, which can reach 8 h + 32 h with the charging case, compared to 6 h + 24 h for the Denon PerL model.
These True Wireless earphones currently top the brand’s range. Available from the manufacturer’s website, the Denon PerLs cost $199, while the more advanced Denon PerL Pro will set you back $349.
