Best known for its headphone amplifiers and USB DACs, Chinese manufacturer Aune Audio continues to expand its catalog with the new Aune Flamingo range. Comprising the Aune Flamingo BD Bluetooth receiver, as well as the Aune Flamingo and Aune Flamingo BT DACs and headphone amplifiers, this affordable range is distinguished by the integration of a tube preamplification section in each device. The promise: to bring life and warmth back to digital tracks!
Aune Audio Flamingo BD: the Bluetooth receiver
With the Aune Audio Flamingo BD Bluetooth receiver, the Asian manufacturer aims to demonstrate that this wireless transmission mode can offer true hi-fi sound. To achieve this, the receiver is equipped with a Bluetooth 5.1 processor compatible with aptX HD and LDAC codecs for high-speed transmission at up to 24-bit/96kHz. It works alongside an ESS9318 DAC, which was already used in the Aune Audio BU2 to ensure very high quality conversion. All this is complemented by preamplification using an ECC82 tube that brings warmth and naturalness to the music. An approach already implemented with the Advance Paris WTX-Tubes Bluetooth receiver.
Aune Audio Flamingo: DAC and tube headphone amp
A new hi-fi model for 2023, the Aune Audio Flamingo is a USB DAC, hi-fi preamp and headphone amp all in one. It can play Hi-Res music at up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 from its USB-B port (compatible with smartphones, tablets and computers), or at up to 24-bit/96kHz via the coaxial input.
The Aune Audio Flamingo’s headphone amplifier stage can be operated with either transistors or an electron tube. This makes it easy to adapt the sound signature to your preferences or the track you’re listening to. This feature can also be exploited when the Aune Flamingo DAC is combined with a hi-fi or power amp via its preamplified RCA output. Last but not least, a front-panel OLED control display provides quick information on the volume, the source currently playing, and the activated amplification mode or DSP. Seven filters are available for full customization.

The Aune Audio Flamingo BT DAC takes all the functions of the Flamingo and adds a Bluetooth 5.1 receiver. It supports aptX HD and LDAC codecs up to 24-bit/96kHz. Other features include a 32-bit/768kHz and DSD DAC, a tube or transistor headphone amplifier, and a hi-fi preamp mode.
