Since 1975, Hi-Fi Choice magazine has featured among the most respected audio magazines in the world. With the slogan “passion for sound”, this British publication offers numerous reviews and articles on the finest audio equipment on the market. Recently, Hi-Fi Choice was won over by the Elipson Legacy 3230 floorstanding speaker!
Consisting of the Elipson Legacy 3210 compact speaker, the Elipson Legacy 3220 floorstanding speaker and the Elipson Legacy 3230 floorstanding speaker, the Elipson Legacy range takes inspiration from the French brand’s iconic models, such as the Religieuse and Elipson 4050 speakers. However, this series uses modern materials and innovative technical solutions, notably ceramic cone drivers and AMT tweeters.
In its recent special Yearbook edition focusing on reviews of the best hi-fi equipment, Hi-Fi Choice magazine praised the Elipson Legacy 3230 floorstanding speaker, the brand’s flagship model, by bestowing it with the prestigious Hi-Fi Choice Editor’s Choice award!
The British magazine praised the speaker’s design, stating that “the first thing that strikes me on seeing this floorstander for the first time: it’s an awful lot of hefty, fancy-looking and smoothly finished speaker for the money.”
But it’s the 3230’s sonic abilities that truly impressed the journalist. “Perhaps more than anything else, it’s the way the big Elipson removes itself from the process and lets the music set the scene, successfully hiding the machinations of its reproduction. The results can sound breathtakingly big and uncompressed, yet paint the subtlest of fine details with unshowy precision. The 3230 images in 3D, goes loud without a hint of strain from silkily spun treble to stentorian bass and places the listener in the musical picture rather than at the end point of a projection.”
Hi-Fi Choice concludes its review by saying, “What we have here is end-game material, a speaker you can buy without having to remortgage the house and live with for many years ‘upgrade itch’ free.”
The Elipson 3230 floorstanding speaker isn’t the only model in the Elispon Legacy range to have received praise from the specialist press. The Legacy 3210 compact speakers received the Highly Recommended award from Norwegian magazine L&B Tech Reviews: “the Elipson Legacy 3210 are precise and colorless reproducers, but not cranky or over-analyzing. The overall sound is comfortable, without sharp edges – and a bit reclined.”
Furthermore, the Elipson Legacy 3220 floorstander was lauded by Haute Fidélité and received their “Meilleur Achat” award: “The speaker is talented with both smaller instrumental formations and large orchestras, displaying the appropriate pomp and splendor.
